Can cervicitis turn into cervical cancer?

Can cervicitis turn into cervical cancer?

In recent years, the age of patients suffering from cervical cancer has tended to be younger, which makes many patients with cervicitis feel worried and anxious. What they worry about is that cervicitis will turn into cervical cancer, and what they are worried about is that cervical cancer is the most common malignant tumor in gynecology. Once the disease occurs, it may seriously endanger life. So, will cervicitis turn into cervical cancer? How to prevent it?

1. Will cervicitis turn into cervical cancer?

Cervicitis refers to damage to the cervix and erosion by pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, mycoplasma positive, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus infection, Escherichia coli and its Trichomonas, Trichomonas, and Amoeba. The clinical symptoms include: lower abdominal pain or lumbosacral pain, excessive vaginal discharge with light yellow mucopurulent or bloody vaginal discharge, accompanied by vulvar itching, burning sensation, pain during sexual intercourse, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pressure, inability to hold urine, frequent and urgent urination, and painful urination.

Cervical cancer refers to persistent infection with high-risk HPV, where HPV is the abbreviation of human papillomavirus. It is mainly transmitted by contact, and then reaches the host skin and mucosal squamous epithelial cells to wait for opportunities. When the cervix is damaged or eroded, the virus enters the cells through contact with the tiny erosion surfaces, and stays in the cytoplasm of the epithelial cells at the infected site for replication and gene expression. When the viral DNA combines closely with the target cell DNA, it can change the properties of the squamous cells on the surface of the cervix, causing the normal cervical squamous epithelium to gradually become diseased. The main symptoms of early cervical cancer are irregular bleeding, prolonged menstruation, increased menstrual flow, and vaginal discharge. The fluid is milky white or thick, thin, watery or rice-like, and has a fishy smell. The main symptoms in the middle and late stages are irregular vaginal bleeding, with a lot of millet soup-like or pus-like foul-smelling secretions, accompanied by frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, constipation, swelling and pain in the lower limbs, urethral obstruction, hydronephrosis and uremia.

Therefore, cervicitis does not necessarily turn into cervical cancer. Since cervical cancer is caused by high-risk HPV infection, if the patient with cervicitis is not infected with HPV or actively treats it and the problem is completely resolved, cervical cancer is not likely to occur. 2. How to prevent it?

1. Study professional knowledge about cervical cancer

Actively learn anti-cancer knowledge, especially for groups in the high-risk period of cancer, as well as sexual health care knowledge. In daily life, avoid multiple sexual partners. Girls under the age of 16 should not have sex. It is also advocated to marry late, have children late, and avoid giving birth too early, and have fewer pregnancies and births.

2. Cultivate a good lifestyle

In daily life, we should pay attention to personal hygiene to prevent bacterial infection; pay attention to rest and ensure adequate sleep; increase physical exercise to enhance immunity.

3. Pay attention to your diet

In daily life, we should pay attention to a balanced diet and eat more foods high in protein, cellulose and vitamins to avoid malnutrition.

4. Conduct cervical cancer screening regularly

Cervical cancer screening should start at the age of 21, with a cervical cytology test (TCT) done every 3 years and a cervical cytology test and human papillomavirus (HPV) test done every 5 years to ensure early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment.

According to the description of the relevant knowledge about cervical cancer and cervicitis, everyone should know that cervicitis does not necessarily develop into cervical cancer, and patients with cervicitis do not need to worry too much. As long as you actively cooperate with the treatment, build confidence in recovery, and believe that you will recover as soon as possible!
