What's wrong with a low-grade fever during menstruation?

Under normal circumstances, women will have their periods every month, but when their periods come, there will be no other symptoms except for a little dysmenorrhea or discomfort. However, some people will have a low fever every month when their periods come. In this case, it depends on whether it happens every month. It is also possible that it just happened to coincide with the period. If you have a low fever or happen to have an inflammation problem, you need to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

A low-grade fever refers to a body temperature between 37.3℃ and 38℃. Long-term low-grade fever refers to a fever that lasts for more than two weeks, excluding intermittent fever. There are many reasons for low fever. Mostly stubborn.

1. Causes

Fever is a symptom. Diseases such as rheumatism, tuberculosis, chronic inflammation, and low immunity can cause persistent low fever. Long-term psychological stress and emotional instability can also cause disorders in the body temperature center, resulting in persistent low fever of unknown cause. A problem with any system in the body can cause a persistent low-grade fever. It is difficult to find out the cause of low-grade fever through routine tests such as blood, urine, and stool. Some low-grade fevers caused by bacterial infections can only be detected through bacterial culture.

2. Inspection

It refers to a fever that lasts for more than two weeks with a body temperature between 37.3℃ and 38℃. It is important to conduct blood routine, chest X-ray, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and other tests in a timely manner, as well as bone marrow examinations when necessary, and to go to the traditional Chinese medicine department of a regular hospital for dialectical treatment. Determining the cause of the disease should be the most critical, and reasonable treatment measures should be formulated based on the examination results. As well as mycoplasma antibody testing, virus testing, tuberculin testing, etc.

3. Differential Diagnosis

1. Recurrent fever: Bronchial foreign bodies can be clinically mild or severe, and the course of the disease varies. If the disease progresses and there is secondary infection, patients may have repeated fever, cough, and moist rales in the lungs.

2. Continuous fever: The normal human body temperature is around 36.5-37°. If it is higher than 37.2°, it is called a fever. When a person cannot maintain normal body temperature, many physiological functions will be impaired. Symptoms of Coxsackie virus in newborns: temperature exceeding 38.5℃, lethargy or irritability, persistent fever, rapid breathing, general weakness, rapid heartbeat, etc. Vomiting increases, even continuous vomiting or projectile vomiting. Muscle twitching, spasms, or neck and limb stiffness, confusion, or coma.

4. Prevention and Treatment

Do not abuse medicine for unexplained low-grade fever. Fever is one of the body's responses to disease. Taking antipyretics for patients with low fever is not conducive to the treatment of the disease. Indiscriminate use of antipyretics may also lead to a decrease in white blood cells and aplastic anemia. Antipyretics should only be considered when the body temperature is above 38°C.

If a low-grade fever persists, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible and undergo a comprehensive examination. Some early symptoms of malignant tumors or bacterial infections are also low-grade fever.
