What is the cause of the continuous fetal movement?

Many pregnant women may find it strange that the fetus keeps moving, especially right after a meal. Due to the increase in blood sugar, the fetus absorbs sufficient nutrients, so the activities will be more frequent than before a meal. However, if the fetal movement continues, it is necessary to check whether the fetus is affected by the disease. Let us now understand the reasons for constant fetal movement, hoping to alleviate mothers’ worries.

What is the reason for frequent fetal movements in pregnant women?

Generally speaking, the fetal movement should be no less than 3 to 5 times per hour, but if the fetal movement exceeds 10 times per hour, it should be considered as frequent fetal movement. Frequent fetal movements refer to the increase in the number of fetal movements felt by pregnant women. This may be due to physiological increases in the number of fetal movements or pathological reasons. Frequent physiological fetal movements refer to an increase in the number of fetal movements caused by activities or stimulation of the pregnant woman. Normally, pregnant women will feel frequent fetal movements in five situations:

1. After eating: After eating, the blood sugar level in the pregnant mother's body increases, and the fetus also absorbs sufficient nutrients, so the fetal movement will become more frequent than before meals.

2. When taking a bath: Pregnant mothers are usually more relaxed when taking a bath. This emotion will be transmitted to the fetus. Infected by this emotion, the fetus will be more energetic and the number of fetal movements will increase.

3. Before going to bed at night: Generally speaking, the fetus moves the most at night, and at this time the pregnant mother can calm down and feel the baby's fetal movements, so she will feel that the baby moves particularly a lot.

4. When listening to music: From the second trimester, the fetus can hear the sounds of the outside world. He prefers soothing and gentle music. Under the stimulation of music, the fetus will become more active, which is also a way to convey emotions. It should be noted that pregnant mothers should not listen to music that is too intense or loud, so as to avoid adverse stimulation to the fetus and cause abnormal fetal movements.

5. When talking to the belly: Studies have shown that the fetus can hear what mom and dad are saying. When communicating with the fetus, the fetus will respond with frequent fetal movements.

Pathological frequent fetal movements refer to abnormal movements of the fetus due to some disease factors. For example, when there is a lack of oxygen, the fetus will become restless, causing an increase in the number of fetal movements. When fetal intrauterine hypoxia continues to worsen, fetal movements will gradually weaken and the number of fetal movements will gradually decrease. Timely measures need to be taken to prevent the fetal movement from disappearing or even leading to fetal death. Placental abruption, placenta previa, umbilical cord around the neck, etc. may cause fetal hypoxia. In addition, if the pregnant mother is hit and injured, it will stimulate the fetus, causing the fetal movement to suddenly accelerate, causing violent fetal movement and even leading to miscarriage, premature birth, etc.
