What should I do if my menstrual flow is too heavy?

Menstruation is an extremely important matter in women's lives, because menstruation is a concrete manifestation of fertility. A healthy woman will have regular menstruation, and the amount of menstrual blood is relatively stable and will not have much impact on the body. However, some women will easily have problems with menstruation. For example, what should they do if the menstrual flow is too heavy?

The normal menstrual blood volume for women is generally 50-80ml, with the heaviest bleeding occurring on the 2nd to 3rd day of menstruation. If the daily blood loss is more than 80ml, or the menstrual volume is significantly increased compared to the past, and the menstrual cycle is basically normal, it is called heavy menstruation.

Based on the rough estimate of sanitary napkin usage, the normal usage is to change them four to five times a day on average, with no more than two packs (10 pieces per pack) per cycle. If 3 packs of sanitary napkins are not enough and almost every sanitary napkin is soaked, it means that the menstrual flow is too heavy.

During menstruation, women should take care of themselves and avoid eating too much spicy or hot food, overwork or strenuous exercise to prevent excessive menstrual flow.

1. Regulate emotions. Keep a good mood and avoid worry, depression and anger, which can damage the liver and spleen, or excessive emotions, which can turn the five desires into fire and disturb the Chong and Ren meridians, causing menstrual diseases.

2. Suitable for cold and warm weather. According to the changes in climate and environment, you should add or remove clothes and bedding appropriately, and avoid keeping the room too cold or too cold to avoid attracting external evil, damaging blood and qi, and affecting normal menstruation.

3. Proper work and rest. During menstruation, you should regulate your body and avoid excessive fatigue and strenuous exercise, as this can easily damage your spleen and lead to menstrual disorders due to dysfunction of regulation or biochemical deficiencies.

4. Birth control and abstinence. It is important to attach importance to birth control and abstinence to prevent diseases, avoid too many or too frequent births (including abortions) and sexual intercourse during menstruation and after childbirth, otherwise it will damage the Chong and Ren meridians, essence and blood, and kidney Qi, leading to menstrual disorders.

5. Eat in moderation. Avoid overeating or excessive consumption of fatty, greasy, raw, cold, spicy, and dry foods to avoid damaging the spleen and stomach and causing biochemical deficiencies, or accumulation of dampness and phlegm, or cooling or burning blood, which may cause menstrual disorders.
