Uterine fibroids red degeneration pregnancy

The incidence of uterine fibroids has been relatively high in recent years. It is a common gynecological disease, and red degeneration of uterine fibroids is a relatively common type of uterine fibroids. It mainly refers to changes in the internal environment, which leads to red degeneration of uterine fibroids. This situation is more harmful to the fetus. It can easily lead to insufficient blood supply during development, which can easily cause miscarriage. Let's take a look at this aspect.

Uterine fibroids red degeneration pregnancy

The cause of red degeneration of uterine fibroids is currently unclear. Most experts believe that the red degeneration of uterine fibroids is caused by the rapid increase in the size of the fibroids, the obstruction of blood circulation within the tumor, which causes ischemia and infarction of the fibroids, and blood overflows into the tumor, leading to hemolysis. During pregnancy, due to the high estrogen content of pregnant women, uterine fibroids grow faster, so the chance of red degeneration is much higher than that in the non-pregnancy period.

Patients with red and deformed uterine fibroids during pregnancy will experience severe abdominal pain, fever, accompanied by clinical symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. There is obvious tenderness at the site of uterine fibroid growth. A routine blood test will reveal an elevated white blood cell count. B-ultrasound examination showed mixed echoes, from which it can be seen that the uterine fibroids have increased significantly.

How can a pregnant woman protect the fetus if she suffers from red and deformed uterine fibroids? In principle, conservative treatment is generally recommended without surgery.

Conservative treatment includes:

1. Rest in bed.

2. Rehydrate and correct the body's water and electrolyte balance.

3. Use magnesium sulfate and other tocolytic drugs to preserve pregnancy.

4. Use antibiotics. Red degeneration of uterine fibroids is not caused by infection. After red degeneration, it will cause local blood supply obstruction and make it easy to get infected. Therefore, antibiotics that have less impact on the fetus should be selected, such as penicillin or cephalosporin. If conservative treatment is not effective, then surgical treatment is necessary.

The above is a brief introduction to the disease of red degeneration of uterine fibroids. The red deformation of uterine fibroids during pregnancy has a great impact on the fetus. Patients must take it seriously. Pregnant women must strengthen prenatal examinations during pregnancy to prevent threatened uterine rupture. When the fetus is close to full-term, hospitalization and monitoring are required in advance to ensure a smooth delivery.
