Will my period be delayed if I have an IUD inserted?

We all know that many people get pregnant when having sex, so people hope for a long-term and effective contraceptive method. Giving women an IUD is undoubtedly the best choice. It is to insert an IUD into the woman's uterus, but the process must be sterile, otherwise it is likely to cause some gynecological diseases in women and will also cause damage to the woman's uterus. So will menstruation be delayed after the IUD is inserted?

IUD is the preferred contraceptive method for many women because it is not only convenient but also relatively safe. Although it is very good, it still has certain disadvantages to the body, such as some side effects. So will menstruation be delayed after the IUD is inserted? After the IUD is inserted, women’s menstruation will be affected to a certain extent, but it will generally recover in about 3-6 months.

If the IUD affects menstruation, it means that bacteria and viruses are brought into the uterine cavity during insertion, or if hygiene is not paid attention to after insertion, it is easy to cause uterine cavity infection, excessive bleeding, prolonged menstruation, dysmenorrhea and other symptoms. Delayed menstruation rarely occurs.

Some women experience delayed menstruation after having an IUD inserted. This situation is related to the fact that a few people are not able to adapt to it. Generally, it can heal itself after a period of time. Of course, it can also be recovered quickly through treatment. If you have frequent spotting and it does not stop after treatment, it is recommended that you consider removing the IUD and using other contraceptive measures to avoid gynecological diseases caused by prolonged bleeding and physical weakness.

Some women will experience soreness or discomfort in the lower abdomen or lower back after the placement of the ring. This is because the contraceptive ring placed in the uterus is a "foreign body" to the uterus, especially when it is too large or positioned low. The uterus contracts to expel this "foreign body", causing uterine contraction pain.

Friendly reminder: The IUD can only prevent normal pregnancy in the uterine cavity, but cannot prevent abnormal pregnancy outside the uterus (i.e. ectopic pregnancy). Therefore, it is inevitable that a small number of women who use IUDs for contraception will have ectopic pregnancy.
