Is it normal to have a fever during early pregnancy?

We all know that many women will undergo various changes in their bodies in the early stages of pregnancy. These changes tell you that they may be pregnant. Some women will have a higher body temperature than usual in the early stages of pregnancy. In fact, this is caused by the increase in progesterone in the body. Some women will become more frequent and urgent in urination during pregnancy. So is it normal to have a fever in the early stages of pregnancy?

Fever in early pregnancy?

In the early stages of pregnancy, a woman's hormone levels will fluctuate, so her basal body temperature will be slightly higher. The normal body temperature of the human body is 36 to 37 degrees, but it may rise to 37-37.5 degrees Celsius in the early stages of pregnancy. This situation looks like a fever, but it is not actually a fever, so pregnant mothers don’t need to worry too much.

However, if the pregnant woman's body temperature remains high and is accompanied by symptoms of chills and sweating, or even if the body temperature has risen to 38°C, it is not a normal phenomenon, but a cold and fever and requires timely treatment. Otherwise, a fever of 30 degrees that lasts for more than 4 hours will prevent the body's protein from functioning normally, increasing the risk of miscarriage, deformed babies, and stillbirth.

What to do if you have a fever or cold in early pregnancy

The preferred physical methods to help reduce fever are: ice pillow, heat dissipation patch, warm water wiping, such as wiping the body repeatedly with a warm towel, and placing ice packs in the armpits, forehead and groin.

As for antipyretics, try not to use them. When the temperature is above 38.5 degrees and accompanied by uncomfortable symptoms, you can consider taking a small amount of medicine under the guidance of a doctor.

Other symptoms of early pregnancy in women

In addition to the increase in body temperature due to hormones in early pregnancy, women may also experience the following symptoms:

2. Breast pain, swelling and itching
