Body structure diagram of female uterus

The uterus is an internal organ that causes menstruation and forms the fetus. It is located in the center of the pelvis, between the bladder and duodenum. The size of the uterus is related to age and fertility. For nulliparous women, it is approximately 7.5 cm long, 5 cm wide, and 3 cm thick. The uterus can be divided into three parts: the fundus, the body, and the neck. The uterine cavity is in the shape of a disordered triangle, about 6 cm deep, with the two upper corners being the “uterine horns” leading to the bilateral fallopian tubes. The narrow part directly below is the "muscle wall", which is about 1 cm long. The muscle wall gradually expands during pregnancy, forming the lower uterine segment during labor.

The ratio of the uterine body to the cervix varies with age, 2:1 before puberty, 1:2 during childbearing age, and 1:1 after menopause. The uterus is normally curved slightly forward, with the anterior wall lying on the bladder, at about the same angle to the vagina; this position varies with the level of bladder and duodenal filling. The uterine wall is composed of three layers: serosa, muscle layer and mucosa (i.e. uterine wall).

Tectonic action

The part of the female reproductive organ of animals and humans. It is the place where the fetus or young of animals and humans grows and develops. The uterus is a human organ unique to women. According to the latest medical research results, the uterus is the sixth internal organ of women, that is, women have six internal organs and six bowels. The endometrium is the mucosa, which is composed of squamous epithelial cells (single and double-sided columnar squamous epithelial cells, which include metabolic cells and microvilli cells) and endometrium (composed of connective tissue, which contains many stellate cells, called stromal cells). The endometrium can be divided into the superficial functional membrane and the superficial dermis. The functional layer is slightly thicker, accounting for about 4/5 of the thickness of the endometrium, and the dermis is thinner and denser, accounting for about 1/5. During the menstrual cycle, the functional layer can fall off, while the dermis cannot. The uterus, also known as the uterus and the female uterus, is the original name in traditional Chinese medicine and belongs to the extraordinary palace. The name of the uterus is first seen in the entry for waist purple quartz in Shennong's Herbal Classic, which says that it is used to treat "female cold in the uterus, infertility for ten years and no offspring."

Location of the uterus: In "Lie Jing Fu Yi Waist San Jiao Bao Luo Ming Men Bian" by Ming Dynasty Zhang Jiebin, it says: "The uterus... is located in front of the duodenum and behind the bladder." Appearance of the uterus: In "Jing Yue Quan Shu Waist Women's Rules Waist Offspring Lei Yao Bian Gu" by Ming Dynasty Zhang Jiebin, it quotes Zhu Danxi's words: "When yang and yin intercourse, the fetus is condensed. The place where it is stored is called the uterus. One part is at the bottom, and there are two forks on the top, which divides into two in the middle, like a bowl, one for the left and the other for the right." It clearly points out that the uterus is a disordered triangle, with one part pointing downward (cervix), and a fork on each side of its upper corner (bilateral fallopian tubes), widening to both sides, that is, "two forks on the top"; the uterus is hollow, which is called "like a bowl."
