What is the reason for the continuous bleeding during menopause?

Generally speaking, when women reach menopause, their menstruation will gradually decrease until it stops. However, some friends may find that they are in menopause, but their menstrual bleeding is still continuous, and they don’t know why.

According to the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment, Chinese medicine mainly treats four syndromes, namely kidney yang deficiency, kidney yin deficiency, spleen deficiency and blood stasis, according to different symptoms and signs.

(1) Kidney Yin deficiency: In addition to vaginal bleeding, there are also symptoms such as dizziness, tinnitus, sore waist and weak knees, and hot hands and feet.

Use cooked rehmannia, tortoise shell, dryopteris, mistletoe, antler glue, and dandelion charcoal to nourish the kidney and yin, consolidate the Chong and stop bleeding.

(2) Kidney Yang Deficiency: In addition to vaginal bleeding, there are also chills, low back pain, gloomy complexion, and clear and long urination.

Use Codonopsis pilosula, Angelica sinensis, Rehmannia glutinosa, Psoralea corylifolia, Artemisia argyi charcoal, antler glue, Chinese yam, etc. to warm the kidney, assist yang, and stop bleeding.

(3) Spleen deficiency type: In addition to vaginal bleeding, it is accompanied by pale complexion, fatigue, shortness of breath, laziness, loss of appetite, etc.

Use Astragalus membranaceus, Atractylodes macrocephala, calcined oyster, Yu Gu, Cornus officinalis, etc. to strengthen the spleen and qi, consolidate the Chong and stop bleeding.

(4) Blood stasis type: Vaginal bleeding, dark purple blood with blood clots, sometimes accompanied by lower abdominal pain.

Use Panax notoginseng, Aconiti lobata, oyster, dragon bone, donkey-hide gelatin, fried pollen, motherwort, etc. to remove blood stasis, promote blood circulation, and stop bleeding.

How to judge heavy menstruation

Normal menstrual bleeding should be 20 to 60 ml, and more than 80 ml is considered menorrhagia. But we can't measure it normally, but sanitary napkins can help. Normally, change them four or five times a day, with no more than two packs (10 pieces) per cycle. If using three packs of sanitary napkins each time is not enough and each sanitary napkin is soaked, it means that your menstrual flow is too heavy.
