What are the best ways to treat cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion is a common gynecological disease in clinical practice. This disease has a great impact on women's bodies, so it must be treated in time. There are many best ways to treat cervical erosion. In general, in addition to drug treatment for cervical erosion, physical therapy can also be used.

1. Medication

It is suitable for patients with smaller erosion area and shallower inflammatory infiltration. Antibiotics can be used for local application, such as metronidazole, sulfonamides, furazolidone, etc. Traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the clinical treatment of cervical erosion, and the effect is also good. Some proven prescriptions and formulas are often selected, processed into powders or suppositories, placed on cotton balls, and applied to the eroded surface.

Generally, the medicine is applied twice a week. During the treatment, there will be more yellow vaginal discharge, but there should be no odor. Treatment usually starts after the menstruation is over, and the medicine is applied continuously for one month and discontinued during the menstrual period.

2. Physical therapy

Physical therapy is a very widely used treatment method, which has the advantages of short treatment course and good efficacy. It is suitable for patients with larger erosion area and deeper inflammatory infiltration. Commonly used methods include electric ironing, laser therapy, and cryotherapy.

Before physical therapy surgery, the vulva, vagina, and cervix should be routinely disinfected. Since the amount of fluid discharged after surgery is large, care should be taken to keep the vulva clean and dry to prevent infection. Sexual intercourse, bathing and vaginal douching are prohibited until the wound has completely healed, which usually takes 4-8 weeks. After treatment, the patients were reviewed once a month to check the wound healing status.

3. Traditional surgical treatment

For patients with cervical hypertrophy, or deep and extensive erosion involving the cervical canal, traditional surgical treatments such as cervical conization or total hysterectomy can be considered. However, surgical treatment is rarely used nowadays.

4. High-frequency LEEP

High-frequency LEEP is less likely to cause tissue stretching and carbonization as occurs during traditional electrosurgical cutting, and can yield intact tissue specimens that do not affect pathological examination. It can cure the disease completely in one go without recurrence, with minimal trauma, smooth incision, no scars, no impact on reproductive function and quality of life of couples, no pain, few surgical complications (bleeding, infection), and a short operation time, which can be completed in 5 minutes.
