How much menstrual flow is considered light

Menstruation is something that every normal woman will experience, and it basically comes once a month. Every woman's physical condition is different during menstruation, and the amount of menstrual flow is also different. Some have more, and some have less. Whether it is too much or too little, it is an abnormal situation. You must pay attention to how much menstrual flow is considered a small amount? This is also a problem that many women with light menstrual flow are particularly concerned about. Let’s learn about it together.

Doctors believe that normal menstrual bleeding should be 20 to 60 ml, and more than 80 ml is considered menorrhagia. Based on the rough estimate of sanitary napkin usage, the normal usage is to change them four to five times a day on average, with no more than two packs (10 pieces per pack) per cycle. If 3 packs of sanitary napkins are not enough and almost every sanitary napkin is soaked, it means that the menstrual flow is too heavy.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the main reasons for heavy menstrual flow in women are blood heat, qi deficiency, and blood stasis:

Hot blood: Women of this type have a yang-dominant constitution and usually like to eat spicy and fried foods. Some people are usually depressed, which causes liver depression turning into fire; some think too much, which leads to insufficient heart yin and hyperactivity of heart fire; some are affected by external heat evil, which forces blood to flow abnormally, thus causing excessive menstruation.

Qi deficiency: Women of this type are usually weak, or their spleen is damaged after a long illness. Some people are usually too tired and eat too much cold food, which eventually damages the spleen, weakens the vital energy, and fails to retain blood, resulting in excessive menstrual flow.

Blood stasis: Women with a history of miscarriage or induced abortion are more likely to have blood stasis in their bodies. Some are due to long-term depression, which leads to blood stasis in the body. When the stagnant blood is not removed, new blood cannot flow normally in the meridians, resulting in excessive menstruation. When a woman finds that she has excessive menstruation, she should go to the hospital for a check-up to find out the cause of the excessive menstruation.

Through the above introduction, we know how much menstrual volume is considered light. When we have light menstrual volume, we must pay great attention to it, especially go to the hospital for examination and treatment. In addition, we should also pay attention to our eating habits and living habits in normal times. It is especially important for female friends to maintain a happy mood every day.
