Etiology and pathogenesis of Trichomonas vaginitis:

This disease is mainly caused by accumulation of dampness and heat, and worms eating into the genitals.

Damp-heat evil can be divided into internal and external. For example, living in a wetland for a long time may cause dampness to invade from outside, which may turn into heat; or during menstruation or after childbirth, dampness and heat may take advantage of the opportunity to enter the body. This is exogenous damp-heat. If the spleen is weak, or the liver qi is stagnant, wood overcomes the spleen earth, the spleen fails to function properly, water and dampness are retained inside, stagnate in the lower burner, accumulate and turn into heat, then it is endogenous damp heat. When dampness and heat accumulate and the ligaments are not firm, the vaginal discharge will increase and become yellow in color. Dampness and heat in the lower part of the body and bladder dysfunction will cause stranguria; dampness that has been infiltrating the body for a long time will become toxic, or it may infect the body with hot and toxic evil qi, causing excessive heat to force blood to flow abnormally, or dampness and toxicity to corrode the skin, which will lead to leucorrhea with pus and blood, or "genital erosion" or "genital sores". Dampness and decay can breed insects, or improper health preservation can cause the insects to directly attack the genitals, where they can cause itching and burning pain.
