What causes lumps under the armpits after childbirth?

Many mothers who have given birth will suddenly find lumps growing under their armpits while breastfeeding, and then begin to wonder if they have a tumor in their body. Many mothers are very nervous and scared, and their hearts are full of doubts. In fact, it is very normal to have lumps under the armpits after giving birth. Don't be nervous. The main reasons for this symptom are as follows:

This lump is usually the size of an egg and appears at the same time as the breasts swell after childbirth. In fact, this lump is a mammary gland, but it is not normal breast tissue, but congenitally underdeveloped breast tissue, called accessory breast.

Because there is no milk secretion and no feeling at ordinary times, the mammary glands become active after delivery, and milk is secreted in large quantities, which sometimes accumulates into hard lumps and causes a feeling of swelling and pain. This attracts attention and a lump is discovered under the armpit. This type of lump does not require medical treatment. If it is really swollen and painful, you can take painkillers or apply saltpeter topically for 24 hours and the pain will subside. Another possibility is that it is caused by partial mammary gland obstruction. It is recommended to apply hot towels more often and ask the baby to suck more milk. This will stimulate the unobstructed nipples and mammary glands. It will be better in a week and there will be no pain. If there is no improvement after a while, it may be that there are lumps in the armpits due to breastfeeding after delivery, which may be considered enlarged lymph nodes. It is recommended to go to the hospital for examination and anti-inflammatory treatment.

Mothers who have just given birth for two or three days should not be afraid or nervous when encountering this situation. This is a very normal phenomenon. Just adjust your mentality, feed your baby more milk, and I believe it will get better soon after the mammary duct is unblocked. It is not a tumor. Don't worry, just take good care of your baby and yourself. Of course, if inflammation occurs, you should seek medical attention promptly.
