What is the incidence of breast cancer?

Now more and more women are suffering from breast cancer. The patients of breast cancer have gradually shifted from middle-aged women around 40 years old to young women. Many women suffer from breast cancer around the age of 20. This is inseparable from our daily living habits. Let us now understand the incidence rate of breast cancer and hope to attract the attention of all female friends.

The incidence rate is increasing by 3% each year

Professor Xu Guangwei, honorary chairman of the China Anti-Cancer Association, said that in developed Western countries such as the United States, one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Currently, the incidence of breast cancer in China is lower than that in the West, but the incidence rate increases by 3% each year, and the age of onset is also tending to be younger. Professor Xu analyzed that heredity, nutritional imbalance, bad living habits and mental health can all lead to the occurrence of breast cancer. However, the main cause of breast cancer is the estrogen in the human body. Breast cancer is a disease closely related to endocrine system. Once the hormone secretion in the body loses balance, leading to excessive secretion of estrogen, the mammary duct epithelial cells will change from normal development to abnormal proliferation under the stimulation of estrogen, and then there is the possibility of canceration.

Three tips for preventing breast cancer

Breast cancer is preventable, and women are advised to pay attention to breast health at three levels. The first level is to reduce carcinogenic factors. Develop good eating habits, eat less high-fat and high-protein foods, exercise more, and avoid obesity. Especially postmenopausal women and obese people have a higher risk of breast cancer. After menopause, women’s ovaries no longer function and menstruation stops, but their bodies still have estrogen, which is converted from male hormones secreted by the adrenal glands. The reason why the incidence rate is high in obese people is that the conversion of androgens into estrogen must take place in adipose tissue. Fat people have more fat, which converts more fat, and therefore they are more likely to get sick. Furthermore, some women's health products contain estrogen, and taking them blindly will also increase the risk of breast cancer. Therefore, health supplements should not be taken casually.

The second level is to strengthen prevention among high-risk groups. Being over 35 years old and still unmarried and childless, having a mother or sister with breast cancer before menopause, having two or more family members with breast cancer, and having atypical breast hyperplasia are all high-risk factors. Professor Xu said hospitals can classify breasts into various types by taking mammary X-rays, among which ductal type and mixed type are considered to be at risk of cancer. However, the various types can transform into each other. Therefore, it is especially recommended that women with breast hyperplasia go to the hospital for regular check-ups.

The third level is to pay attention to tumor screening. 90% of stage I breast cancer can be cured, while the 5-year survival rates of patients with stage II and III are only 70% and 45% respectively, and stage IV breast cancer is impossible to cure. The type of treatment a patient needs is also determined by the tumor stage. Professor Xu said that if breast tumors are detected during stage I screening, only a small surgery is needed without chemotherapy, which will cause less pain to the patient and reduce costs. For breast cancer patients diagnosed at an early stage, the treatment effect is ideal. The breasts can be preserved, which is a great psychological comfort to women and can also maintain good working ability. Professor Xu said that many women confuse the concepts of health check-ups and tumor screening. Women over 35 years old should undergo a special breast cancer screening every year and a half.

The above is the incidence of breast cancer. Now the incidence of this disease is still showing an upward trend. Many young women think that they are still young and healthy and will not suffer from such diseases. They will not go to the hospital for regular check-ups, which will cause certain troubles to their bodies.
