What is brown menstrual discharge?

I believe that many women do not know that brown menstrual discharge is a common gynecological disease in life and deserves attention. As we all know, leucorrhea is a colorless and transparent vaginal secretion that appears regularly during the menstrual cycle. Once an abnormality occurs, it means that you may have a gynecological disease.

Many female friends will have the symptom of brown leucorrhea after menstruation, so what is going on? Now let us learn about the relevant common knowledge about leucorrhea.

Normal leucorrhea is a mixture of secretions from the vaginal mucosa, cervix and endometrium. Under normal circumstances, leucorrhea is a colorless or white, thin paste with no odor. Normal women will experience increased vaginal discharge 2-3 days before menstruation, during ovulation and pregnancy. Especially when approaching ovulation, cervical mucus secretion increases, making the vaginal discharge transparent and thin like egg white.

Abnormal leucorrhea is a common symptom of gynecological diseases, which manifests itself as changes in color, quantity, properties and odor. Common causes of abnormal leucorrhea and changes in leucorrhea are: cervical erosion, purulent vaginitis and endometritis, etc., resulting in yellow, smelly, purulent leucorrhea; in case of trichomoniasis, there will be grayish yellow, foamy, smelly, thin leucorrhea; in case of candidal vaginitis, the leucorrhea is white, thick, and resembles tofu dregs or curd; if the amount of bloody, rice-soup or yellow watery leucorrhea increases, you may have a tumor of the reproductive organs.

Abnormal leucorrhea is just a symptom of a common gynecological disease. Women with abnormal leucorrhea should go to the hospital for examination in time to find out the cause and treat it.

Most of the increased leucorrhea is caused by increased secretions of pathological diseases. The common symptoms are as follows:

1. Colorless paste-like leucorrhea Leucorrhea is sticky like paste, with large amount, and often stains underwear. Except for lower back pain, the patient has no other symptoms. It is more common in chronic metritis. In addition, women who use more estrogen preparations may also experience this kind of leucorrhea.

2. Bean-dreg-like leucorrhea The amount of leucorrhea is large, and it is shaped like bean dregs and is floc-like. It is often accompanied by vaginal itching. This type of leucorrhea is mostly caused by vaginal fungal infection or diabetes.

3. Foamy leucorrhea The leucorrhea is foamy, large in amount, and accompanied by itching of the vulva and vagina. If a vaginal leucorrhea smear test is done, active Trichomonas may be detected. This is because of infection with Trichomonas due to unclean bath water during a tub bath, pool bath or sitz bath. This disease is often caused by itching and scratching of the vaginal opening, which leads to purulent infection and the leucorrhea turns into yellow pus and foam.

4. Purulent leucorrhea is yellow or green in color, and is often accompanied by symptoms such as general weakness and low fever. It is likely to be acute vaginitis or cervicitis. Purulence indicates bacterial infection, and you should seek medical attention in time.

5. Watery leucorrhea Leucorrhea is clear like water, often soaks the underwear, and has a foul odor. It is often a sign of fallopian tube tumors.

In fact, you can observe your leucorrhea more in your life. Leucorrhea is a lubricant for the vagina and is also a benchmark for judging whether you have vaginal diseases. Many doctors in hospitals who treat gynecological diseases will ask patients to do a routine leucorrhea test. Therefore, female friends should be attentive and go to the hospital immediately if they find any abnormalities in their leucorrhea.
