How to deal with bleeding in early pregnancy

There are many things that should be paid attention to in the early stages of pregnancy, because such a period is very special. If you are not careful, your child will be hurt. I believe everyone does not want such a phenomenon, right? Therefore, when there are symptoms of bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy, we must know how to deal with it. So, how to deal with bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy?

Bleeding in early pregnancy can be divided into several stages to discuss

If the pregnancy has just been confirmed and the bleeding has not yet been confirmed, the general obstetrician and gynecologist will arrange an ultrasound to rule out the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. Because the equipment is quite advanced now, an abdominal ultrasound examination can determine whether the embryonic sac has implanted in the uterus six to seven weeks after the last menstrual period. If the ultrasound examination is performed through the vagina, the embryonic sac can be seen a week in advance.

Therefore, if the pregnancy is more than seven weeks old, but the embryo sac is still not seen in the uterus, and there is abnormal bleeding, it is necessary to suspect whether there is an ectopic pregnancy. Further examination and treatment must be done immediately to avoid rupture of the ectopic pregnancy, resulting in massive internal bleeding and endangering life.

However, after the ultrasound shows the embryonic sac in the uterus, it takes another week to see the real embryo, and the heartbeat is considered a normal pregnancy. In a small number of pregnancies, there is still no trace of the embryo after eight weeks. At this time, it may be an atrophic egg. If this situation is accompanied by bleeding and abdominal pain, and the blood test shows that the increase in the mother's human chorionic hormone index is abnormal, it may be a spontaneous abortion.

However, there is a very rare situation, called cervical pregnancy. Although an embryo sac can be seen in the uterus in the early stage, the embryo implantation position is not ideal and it moves to the cervix. This is considered an ectopic pregnancy. If it is treated too late, the uterus must be removed and it may be life-threatening. About 90% of cervical pregnancies will have abnormal bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy, and there will be no abdominal pain or discomfort, which is easy to be ignored. Therefore, if there is bleeding in early pregnancy, you must seek medical attention as soon as possible to avoid danger.

If all the above situations have been ruled out, there is normal embryo development in the uterus, and all examinations are normal, but there is abnormal bleeding at this time, what is going on?

First, we must carefully examine the cervix and vagina. Many women's abnormal bleeding is caused by cervical polyps or even malignant tumors. Pregnant women may also have this possibility. Therefore, in the early stages of pregnancy, we must first rule out this situation. If there is something abnormal, we must deal with it first.

However, we would like to remind you that in the early stages of pregnancy, if abnormal vaginal bleeding is accompanied by abdominal pain and discomfort in the lower abdomen, spontaneous abortion is very likely to occur. Spontaneous abortion accounts for about 15% to 20% of known pregnancies. If the proportion of unknown pregnancies (i.e. abortion without knowing the pregnancy) is included, it can reach 30%.

There are two possibilities for spontaneous abortion. One possibility is that the embryo itself has chromosomal or genetic abnormalities, which accounts for about 50% of spontaneous abortions. The other half may be caused by the mother, such as thyroid disease, diabetes, progesterone deficiency, autoimmune diseases, or exposure to toxic substances such as smoking, drinking, drug abuse, etc. If none of these conditions exist, then attention should be paid to whether there is cervical incompetence, uterine vaginal inflammation and infection, uterine adhesions, or abnormal uterine development, which may cause a bad environment for embryo implantation and lead to spontaneous abortion.

In most cases, if it is caused by problems with the embryo itself, spontaneous abortion will not recur. However, if it is caused by the mother, treatment must be found to avoid repeated miscarriages. If there are more than three consecutive spontaneous abortions and the cause cannot be found, chromosome analysis of both husband and wife can be considered to clarify whether there is a problem with chromosome mutation that causes the embryo to be unable to survive.

If it is not a spontaneous abortion, but there is bleeding, we call it a forced abortion. When this happens, the obstetrics and gynecology department will generally give some pregnancy-preserving drugs and teach pregnant women to get enough rest and avoid hitting their stomachs. However, the effect of pregnancy-preserving drugs is not 100%, and there are still many chances of spontaneous abortion.

If you still have abnormal bleeding after 12 weeks of pregnancy, you should pay attention to whether the placenta is too low. However, if the placenta is too low in the early stage, it does not mean that placenta previa will occur in the future.

If you experience bleeding symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy, you must remain calm and keep your emotions stable, because unstable emotions can easily affect your physical health and the health of your baby. So you must remain calm and don't worry too much. As long as you calm down, you will find a way to deal with bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy.
