Causes of retroverted uterus

Causes of retroverted uterus

In recent years, with the increasing work pressure, more and more women are prone to infertility symptoms, which often has a certain impact on women's physical and mental health, and will also affect women's lives. However, there are many symptoms that cause infertility. Among them, retroversion of the uterus is a direct cause of affecting fertility. In order to improve the retroversion of the uterus, we need to understand the reasons for its formation. Let's take a look at the reasons for the retroversion of the uterus.

The so-called retroflexion of the uterus refers to the bending of the uterus toward the back of the body, that is, in the direction of the rectum and anus. Another term, "retroverted uterus", is less well known and refers to the uterus and cervix leaning toward the back of the body together. However, there is a tendency for the two nouns to be used interchangeably without differentiation.

A normal uterus relies on three major forces to maintain its position in the pelvic cavity: one is the basilar ligament of the pelvic floor, the second is the round ligament and broad ligament on both sides of the uterus, and the third is abdominal pressure. These three forces cause the uterus to tilt forward at almost a 90-degree angle to the vagina, between the bladder and the rectum.

Causes

Will wearing high heels cause the uterus to retroflex? In fact, retroverted uterus is not uncommon. Many people are born with retroverted uterus, while others develop retroverted uterus due to childbirth, inflammation, endometriosis, tumors, and injury. High heels that are too high may aggravate an already retroflexed uterus, but they are not the culprit.

Women should pay special attention to the fact that a laceration of the broad ligament caused by a difficult delivery can cause a retroverted uterus. If the postpartum confinement period is not properly taken care of, especially heavy lifting and excessive abdominal pressure, it will cause poor recovery of the uterus and lead to a retroverted uterus.

The normal position of the uterus is slightly bent forward. However, some healthy women often have a slightly retroflexed uterus. These slight retroflexions will naturally turn into forward flexions about 3 months after conception. However, sometimes, during the process of the uterus turning from retroflexion to anteflexion, the stimulation causes uterine contraction, which can lead to miscarriage. In some cases, the uterus is heavier and adhered to the abdominal wall. In this case, pregnancy is mostly impossible. Although there are cases of accidental pregnancy, miscarriage is the majority. If the miscarriage is caused by this reason, surgery is required to separate the uterus from the posterior abdominal wall to ensure fertility.

Pelvic inflammation and endometriosis cause uterine retroversion, which is caused by pelvic adhesions caused by the disease, with the uterus and the rectum at the back sticking together. For this kind of retroflexion, the cause must be removed in order to correct the position of the uterus.

The above is an introduction to the causes of retroversion and retroflexion of the uterus. After understanding it, we know that there are many reasons for such symptoms. When treating, we must improve it in combination with the causes of the disease, so that we can get better recovery effects. In order to avoid such symptoms, female friends must pay more attention to maintaining good living habits and not have multiple sexual partners.
