Breast lumps during lactation

Breast lumps during lactation

Nowadays, many mothers choose to breastfeed after giving birth. Of course, breastfeeding is very difficult for mothers. If breastfeeding is not done well or breastfeeding is not done often, it is easy to cause breast lumps. What should I do if I have breast lumps during breastfeeding? How to prevent breast lumps? This is a problem that mothers are concerned about.

Lumps in the breasts are caused by milk congestion. The main reasons are incomplete nipple development, too much breast milk or the baby sucking less milk, which causes milk congestion and produces small lumps. In such a situation, you need to apply heat, soak a towel in hot water, cover the center of the lump with the towel, gently massage to soften the lump, and then expel it to avoid blocking the milk duct.

It is very important to prevent breast blockage. When breastfeeding, you must pay attention to balanced feeding, and both breasts must be fed each time. The remaining milk should be discharged with a manual breast pump. Do not let the remaining milk remain in the breasts, as it is easy to cause swelling and form lumps.

The breastfeeding method is also very important. The mother should relax herself and feed the baby with the correct posture, gently pinch the breast and gently touch the baby's upper lip, wait for the baby to open his mouth, let the baby close to the breast, and hold the nipple and nipple at the same time, instead of just holding the nipple.

If a woman has lumps in her breasts during breastfeeding, this is mostly due to milk stasis caused by blocked mammary gland tubes, secondary mastitis or lumps caused by breast cysts.

At this time, it is recommended to immediately recanalize the blocked tube. The methods of recanalization include local hot compresses, massage, and acupressure. Chinese massage should be gentle massage from the area far away from the lump to the nipple area. If you can't master this technique yourself, you can rely on professional skills to help. At the same time, we should encourage continued breastfeeding. The baby's sucking will promote the discharge of milk, so that the lumps can be reduced or disappeared on their own.

If the mammary gland is completely blocked and the above techniques cannot drain the milk immediately, then surgical puncture drainage or incision drainage must be used to solve the problem.
