How many eggs can one oocyte differentiate into?

How many eggs can one oocyte differentiate into?

Oocyte: An oogonia that undergoes meiosis during the process of oocyte formation. It is divided into primary oocytes, secondary coil oocytes and perfect oocytes, which are the materials formed after oogonia division and DNA replication, the first meiotic division and the second meiotic division respectively.

Tectonic action

When a girl ovulates, the egg cell is discharged from the uterus and ovary along with the egg fluid from the cleaved egg (ovulation period), picked up by the ends of the fallopian tubes and transported to the ampulla of the fallopian tubes, waiting for fertilization by male sperm. The egg cell at this time is actually an oocyte-coronary-cumulus complex. The center of the complex is the oocyte and a relatively smaller polar body, which is surrounded by a layer of proteoglycan mainly produced by oocyte secretions, called the zona pellucida (commonly known as ZP). There is a narrow gap between the oocyte and the zona pellucida, the perivitelline space. Outside the zona pellucida, there are several layers of oocytes tightly surrounding it, and the layer close to the zona pellucida is called the corona radiata. The zona pellucida plays a particularly important role in fertilization, and its structure is mainly composed of three glycoproteins (ZP1, ZP2, and ZP3). Among them, ZP3 can identify male sperm from the same population and fuse with them, thereby inducing the sperm to form an acrosome reaction and initiate sperm-egg fusion. If fertilization is not achieved, the oocyte will degenerate 12 to 24 hours after ovulation.

How many oocytes can one oocyte divide into?

An oocyte can produce only one egg in the end, while a spermatocyte can produce 4 male sperm.

Extended Materials

1. Human male sperm is produced in the seminiferous tubules of the male testicles. During the production process, spermatogonia first divide to produce a large number of spermatogonia, some of which continue to undergo mitosis, while others enter meiosis. After two consecutive divisions, four spermatids are produced, and the spermatids then undergo deformation to obtain sperm.

2.Human eggs are produced in a woman's uterus and ovaries. During meiosis, because the two divisions are uneven, three polar bodies and one egg are produced.
