Can I express milk during weaning?

As the baby continues to grow, weaning is something that must be experienced. In the late stage of weaning, breast engorgement is very common, which makes the mother feel very uncomfortable. If the breast milk is not discharged in time, breast disease is likely to occur. So can the breast engorgement be squeezed out by hand when the child is weaned? Can it be squeezed out after weaning?

Generally speaking, when weaning a child, if breast engorgement occurs, you should not express the milk. If you squeeze it with your hands, it will send incorrect information to the brain, causing the breasts to secrete milk again, and finally causing you to be in a state of rush after weaning.

Of course, if your milk is very full and you feel pain, you can still squeeze it out a little. After all, if you allow your breasts to continue to swell without any restrictions, it will cause great risks. This can easily cause the milk ducts to become blocked, and eventually lead to mastitis, but be careful not to completely squeeze them out.

Milk engorgement often occurs after weaning, which is mainly due to improper breastfeeding methods or mastitis after giving birth. When mastitis occurs, it is easy for milk to flow poorly and breasts to become clumped. If it is caused by incorrect breastfeeding method, just pay more attention to the breastfeeding method in daily life.

During the weaning process, the breasts will be partially filled. If the situation is serious, it is recommended to express the milk to prevent milk from accumulating in the breasts and causing mastitis. During the weaning period, you should pay attention to the following: First, your diet must be light, drink less nourishing soup, do not drink pure milk, and do not eat greasy food, which will reduce the amount of milk secretion. Second, if your breasts are swollen, be sure to squeeze out the milk to prevent it from accumulating inside and causing breast inflammation. Third, it is best to take weaning medicines orally during the weaning period, such as drinking roasted malt as water or taking Bujiale orally, which are all effective in reducing milk secretion. Most of the time, after a few days of treatment, about 5-7 days, the amount of milk secretion will be significantly reduced and the actual effect of weaning will be achieved.
