Pictures of episiotomy wounds

Many mothers who give birth naturally have a perineal tilt, so they need special care for the episiotomy wound after the operation, otherwise it will affect the physical recovery of mothers who choose to give birth naturally! So, what should I do if the episiotomy wound during natural delivery splits? What should I do if I see a photo of a split episiotomy wound? Here are two ways to deal with the problem of split episiotomy wounds.

There are two types of delivery wounds during normal delivery. One is some minor damage caused by the impact of the baby's head or presenting part on the vaginal tissue during natural delivery. The wound is small and is a minor tear. The other type is vaginal laceration, which is large and deep. In clinical medicine, it is often called first, second or third degree laceration due to the size of the laceration and the damaged tissue. What we often call episiotomy wound dehiscence belongs to vaginal laceration, which is also very easy to get infected.

If the wound of the episiotomy during vaginal delivery is broken, please pay attention to the following:

1. Minor tear wounds may need a small stitch to promote blood circulation. They will heal on their own after giving birth and no special care is needed. The threads for sutures are basically all digestible and absorbed by the human body, so you just need to make sure they are as clean and comfortable as possible.

2. Keep the vulva clean. Start washing the private parts with cold water from the second day after delivery, or use 10% Cleansing Solution to wash the private parts twice a day until the stitches are removed. If you feel swelling or pain in the private wound, seek medical attention immediately.

3. Maintain smooth toileting and clean the private parts and anus after defecation. You also need to wash sanitary pads and change underwear frequently.

It takes about 4 weeks for the wound of the episiotomy to heal. To prevent the wound from splitting, you can pay attention to the following in postpartum care:

1. Acupuncture therapy. As the edema in the perineal wound is cleared, the pain will be significantly relieved. If the new mother has a significant reaction to the sutures, acupuncture therapy can also be performed to promote local blood circulation and help intestinal absorption, which will also relieve wound pain.

2. Check for abscesses. If you experience severe pain in the wound and a swollen anus within 24 hours after giving birth, you should ask a doctor to check the wound immediately to see if there is an abscess around the wound.

3. Clean the wound. Clean the wound sutures with clean warm water (or medicated lotion provided by the hospital) 2-3 times a day; after cleaning, gently wipe the private parts with disinfectant paper or cotton balls; wash the vulva with clean water after going to the toilet to keep the wound clean and dry to prevent infection.

4. Avoid pressure on the wound side when sleeping at night. If the wound is on the left side, you should sleep on the right side, and vice versa.

5. Exercise to train the pelvic floor muscles. If health conditions permit, pelvic floor muscle exercises can be performed to stimulate blood circulation in the private parts, thereby promoting wound healing.

Well, today I will introduce to you the common problems of postpartum care of episiotomy wounds during normal delivery, as well as what to do if the episiotomy wounds during normal delivery have broken. I hope it will be helpful for postpartum recovery of mothers who choose normal delivery!
