Do I have to wait until the due date for a caesarean section?

The choice between natural birth and cesarean section is a decision that must be made after careful analysis of the actual situation. Of course, between the two, it is best for pregnant women to choose natural birth, but they should choose cesarean section. So, does a caesarean section have to be performed until the due date?

Caesarean section can be performed when the fetus is full-term, that is, the operation can be performed after 38 weeks. Pay attention to rest before the operation and do not need to eat. It is best to wait until the baby is born before doing the Caesarean section. In addition, if the mother has criteria for choosing a natural birth, she should still consider choosing a natural birth, because a Caesarean section is much riskier than a natural birth. If the pregnant woman has no complications and wants a cesarean section, the delivery date can be advanced by one to two weeks, that is, from 38 to 39 weeks of pregnancy. It is best to have a caesarean section 7-10 days in advance, but 6 days in advance is acceptable.

Caesarean section is a key surgical treatment in the obstetrics profession. Due to the advancement of anesthesiology, intravenous injection, intravenous drip, water and electricity balance knowledge, as well as surgical methods, improvements in surgical suture materials and infection control measures, cesarean section has become an effective way to deal with dystocia and some obstetric complications, and to save the lives of pregnant women and perinatal babies. Natural childbirth is a natural and physiological way of delivery. Pregnant women can recover quickly after childbirth, and newborn babies can better adapt to the external environment. Caesarean section is a surgical treatment in which the uterus is opened through the abdomen to remove the fetus.

The rates of intraoperative bleeding, postoperative thrombosis, placenta previa and uterine rupture in subsequent pregnancies among pregnant women undergoing cesarean section are much higher than those among pregnant women undergoing natural delivery. In addition, the rates of respiratory abnormalities and amblyopia in newborns delivered by cesarean section are higher than those in newborns delivered naturally, and their resistance is much lower than that of newborns delivered vaginally. Caesarean section without medical conditions not only fails to reduce perinatal mortality, but increases the post-Caesarean morbidity and maternal mortality rate. Therefore, Caesarean section should not be performed without medical conditions. Therefore, if there is no problem, it is better to choose natural delivery, which is a better choice for both the baby and the pregnant woman.

What should I do if the due date has not come yet?

When the baby is fully developed, the fetus will secrete a growth hormone into the mother's blood, which will stimulate the mother's pituitary gland to secrete oxytocin, initiate uterine contraction and before delivery, this is what we often call "ripe fruit falls off the vine". Before and after delivery, the fetus actively seeks the appropriate meridian in the mother's pelvis to rush outward; the mother is calm before and after delivery, and as the delivery process progresses, the fetus slowly descends under the promotion of waves of uterine rotation and symmetrical contraction and abdominal muscle contraction. When the fetal head is in the pelvic body, the contraction of the pelvis promotes the smooth delivery of the fetus. When the pregnant woman's activity decreases, the fetus lacks the energy provided by the mother for passive exercise, so the fetus has poor self-awareness and cannot actively secrete hormones for the mother. The mother lacks exercise, her muscles lack elasticity, and a small amount of oxytocin cannot initiate uterine contraction, so the pregnancy is delayed and leads to post-term pregnancy. When we have exceeded the due date and there is no sign of movable property mortgage, we should do the following:

1. Check the date of delivery:

To determine if a pregnancy is overdue, you must first determine whether the due date is reliable. Some people have irregular menstruation; some people can't remember the due date of pregnancy, etc., so you must check the due date again with the help of a doctor.

Methods for checking the date of delivery:

The exact time of the due date of pregnancy, when and how you knew you were pregnant after the due date, when the early pregnancy symptoms first appeared (nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, dizziness, breast pain, emotional coldness, etc.), the number of weeks of pregnancy indicated by the first B-ultrasound, and the first time the baby moved. Based on the above regular examinations, I feel that I can generally accurately calculate the date of delivery, and use this time to determine whether the pregnancy is due. It is not possible to determine whether the baby is due based on the B-ultrasound in the late pregnancy, because the weight of the babies born varies. Some weigh 8 catties, and some weigh 5 catties. If the baby weighs 8 catties, it is considered full-term, but if it weighs 5 catties, it is considered too late, which will cause delays.

2. Self-monitoring:

Pregnant women who are overdue should monitor themselves, and the best way is to observe the fetal movement. To put it simply, observing the baby's fetal movement means paying attention to whether the fetus is moving and whether the movement is the same as before. If the fetal movement decreases or is obviously not moving, you need to go to the hospital to see a doctor immediately. Because there is no regularity in fetal movement, do not alarm yourself. The fetal movement cycle is 40 minutes. Generally, if there is no movement for about an hour, there will be fetal movement after a while. If there is no movement, you can also stroke the abdomen, pat it gently, or clap your hands, and then observe.
