How long does it take for my period to come during breastfeeding?

Women are actually very busy during breastfeeding, even busier than when they are pregnant. At this time, women not only have to worry about their own physical problems, but also about breastfeeding issues. Some women even pay attention to menstrual issues. So how long will it take for menstruation to come during breastfeeding?

For women who are not breastfeeding, menstruation usually occurs between 6 and 10 weeks after giving birth, and ovulation resumes around 10 weeks after giving birth. For breastfeeding women, it will be slightly delayed, about 15 to 20 weeks, and the ovulation period will be restored about 4 to 6 months after giving birth. If the period comes later, more menstruation will be produced during the ovulation period.

A woman's menstruation stops during breastfeeding, but she will have her period again half a year after giving birth or after weaning. And whether you have your menstrual period or not, you may ovulate during breastfeeding, so you must use contraceptive methods when having sex during breastfeeding, otherwise there is a possibility of pregnancy. If you take emergency contraception, withdrawal bleeding will occur about a week after taking it. Women should observe the bleeding carefully to distinguish.

When the menstruation starts during breastfeeding, the amount of milk a woman produces generally decreases, and the quality of the fat and protein in the milk also changes, generally with a lower fat content and a higher protein content. Such milk can easily cause indigestion in the baby, but it is usually only temporary, because the milk supply will return to normal after the woman's menstruation. Therefore, whether it is the first menstrual period or the end of the menstrual period, women do not need to stop breastfeeding.
