What are the items in syphilis test?

The diagnosis of syphilis should be made very carefully, because it has similar manifestations to many other diseases, with various and complicated manifestations, a long history of illness, and a long period of latent state. When making a diagnosis, it is necessary to combine medical records, physical examinations and test results, conduct a comprehensive analysis, and, if necessary, conduct follow-up visits, home investigations, experimental treatments and other auxiliary methods. The following is an introduction on how to detect syphilis.

How to detect syphilis

1. Blood test

The most standard way to check is to first check the blood test RPR or TRUST. If it is negative, it is determined that there is no syphilis infection. If it is positive, a positive titer must be made. Under normal circumstances, the dilution is from the original times to 64 times. It is sufficient to check only one of these two tests. However, a positive result of this test item cannot be concluded to be a diagnosis of syphilis, because diseases other than syphilis, such as some infectious diseases, rheumatism, internal myopathy, pregnancy, and muscle injury, may also result in a positive result. However, the positive titer is generally not very high and is unlikely to exceed 1:8. However, if the test result is positive, further examination is required for diagnostic tests.

2. Determine the experiment

The most widely used standard is TPHA or TPPA. It only requires one test. If the RPR is positive and the TPHA is also positive, it can be diagnosed as syphilis infection. If RPR is positive and TPHA is negative, it means it is not syphilis. The positive RPR is caused by other diseases, not syphilis. It is the standard for diagnosing syphilis. Syphilis can only be diagnosed if both tests are positive.

3. Syphilis treatment

Syphilis is the most easily cured disease. It is far from being as terrible and terrifying as some people with ulterior motives have publicized. The treatment is also relatively simple. Treatment with benzathine penicillin is the best treatment option. The standard treatment course is three weeks, with injections once a week, and the cost for three weeks is about 50 yuan. The RPR should be reviewed every three months within one year after the treatment, and every six months after one year. It usually takes six to twenty-four months after treatment for the test result to turn negative, and there is no need for further testing once the test result turns negative.

What are the conditions that require syphilis testing?

1. Forced ulcers or lumps appear in the sexual organ area. If such symptoms occur in a history of extramarital sexual intercourse for about one month, it is mostly primary syphilis and requires diagnostic testing.

2. Multiple erythema appears on the whole body or the palms, soles of feet, or many moist papules appear on the private parts and around the anus, and there is a history of extramarital sexual behavior. Such manifestations are likely to be secondary syphilis and should be tested and treated in time.

3. Young patients suddenly develop central nervous system symptoms, such as cerebrovascular disease, paralysis, and significantly decreased vision or hearing. The possibility of syphilis infection should be fully considered, and syphilis etiology or serology tests should be carried out to rule out neurosyphilis infection.

4. The sexual partners of syphilis patients need to be tested for syphilis.

5. If a pregnant woman has syphilis and has not received adequate treatment, her baby should be tested as soon as possible.

6. After reliable anti-syphilis treatment, syphilis patients need regular follow-up and syphilis serological tests.

7. In addition, if you have engaged in high-risk sexual behavior without taking protective measures in the past, even if you do not show any abnormalities, it is necessary to conduct tests for syphilis or other reproductive tract infections.
