Perineal washing

Perineal washing

Perineal scrubbing is suitable for patients who are bedridden for a long time or have perineal wounds after childbirth. The main purpose of cleaning is to reduce the amount of dirt in the perineum, keep the perineum and anus clean and dry, promote the patient's comfort and perineal wound recovery, and prevent and reduce reverse infection of the urogenital system and urinary system. Next, I will give you a brief introduction to the process of perineal cleaning.

What is the procedure for perineal scrubbing?

1. Prepare the cleaning items and send them to the patient's bedside. Explain the purpose of cleaning to the patient, find out whether the patient wants to urinate, pull the curtain, help the patient take off one side of the trousers, assist the patient to lie on his back with his knees bent and legs open to expose the perineum.

2. The cleaner wears clean rubber gloves and places a disposable sheet under the patient's buttocks to avoid getting the sheet wet during cleaning. Dip a large cotton ball into the prepared cleaning solution, soak the cotton wool of the large cotton ball thoroughly, and then you can start cleaning.

3. The order of cleaning is: the first time from top to bottom, from outside to inside, simply clean the secretions and blood stains on the perineum. When cleaning for the second time, if the woman has a perineum wound, the wound should be taken as the center, and cleaned from the inside to the outside, from top to bottom, and finally the anus and anus. When cleaning, please note that a large cotton ball can only be used once. The frequency of cleaning can be increased according to the patient's condition until it is clean. However, one cotton ball cannot be used to clean back and forth repeatedly, especially the cotton ball that has been used to wipe the anus must not be used to wipe other places.

4. After cleaning, help the patient remove the sheet on his buttocks, assist the patient to put on jeans, take a comfortable position, tidy up the items, turn the gloves, and clean both hands.

When helping the patient to clean the perineum, everyone must maintain a gentle posture, not rubbing hard, and the order of cleaning should not be messed up to avoid cross infection. If you are cleaning the patient in winter, you must pay attention to keeping warm, and the temperature of the cleaning solution should be appropriate to avoid low or high temperature.
