1. If the hCG value is high during pregnancy, it may be due to the following reasons:

1. The time of the last menstrual period may be miscalculated, resulting in a discrepancy between the actual gestational age and the estimated gestational age.

2. It may be twins or multiple births, because the value of multiple pregnancy is higher than that of single pregnancy.

If the doctor confirms that it is one of the above two situations, then the pregnant woman does not need to worry.

3. It may be an abnormal pregnancy - hydatidiform mole. The blood hCG value is usually higher than the normal pregnancy value of the corresponding gestational week.

If a hydatidiform mole is confirmed, the patient needs to be hospitalized immediately.

4. On the Down syndrome screening checklist, the reference range of the median multiple of hCG is 0-2.5. If it is higher than this value, it will have an adverse effect on the safety of mother and baby during pregnancy. For example, pregnant women are more likely to suffer from gestational hypertension. 2. HCG diagnosis of early pregnancy

Early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy is mainly based on the detection of blood HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). Because HCG is a specific hormone secreted during pregnancy, HCG can be used to assist in the diagnosis of early unruptured ectopic pregnancy. Normally developed villi secrete a large amount of HCG, and the daily titer continues to rise rapidly, increasing by more than 66% every 48 hours. That is, if the increase in -HCG is greater than 66% every two days, it can be diagnosed as an intrauterine pregnancy; if the increase is less than 66%, there is a high possibility of ectopic pregnancy or intrauterine pregnancy hypoplasia. After a woman becomes pregnant, an increase in β-HCG can be detected in her blood from the 9th to 11th day, and the amount of HCG can double every two days thereafter (even if there is threatened miscarriage, the rate of increase of HCG will not change). For example, if today's value is 234, if the test result the day after tomorrow is around 450, it can be considered as normal intrauterine pregnancy.

If the rate of increase is slow for two consecutive times, it indicates an ectopic pregnancy or abnormal development of the embryo. For example, if the HCG value is 10 today, 15 the day after tomorrow, and 17 two days later, such an HCG value is definitely abnormal, and the success rate of preserving the pregnancy is extremely low. If the HCG value continues to drop significantly, it is best to perform a uterine curettage even if the fetal heart rate is detected by B-ultrasound, as this indicates that the fetus is actually brain dead.

If HCG increases very quickly, it indicates the possibility of hydatidiform mole and must be closely monitored. Of course, it could also be twins.

Menopause, ovulation and bilateral oophorectomy can all lead to an increase in luteinizing hormone (LH) because LH and HCG have the same α-peptide chain composition, and the α subunit is shared by "anterior pituitary hormones". Therefore, when anti-HCG antibodies are used for pregnancy tests, a positive result will cause a "false pregnancy". At this time, monoclonal enzyme immunoassay of β-HCG can be used for identification.
