Can I eat Zongzi during breastfeeding?

Eating a lot of rice dumplings during the Dragon Boat Festival and chatting with family members is something every family does, but can breastfeeding mothers still do that? Can you eat rice dumplings during breastfeeding? You need to find out.

You can eat it, there is no effect, but rice dumplings are not easy to digest and absorb, so it is not suitable to eat too much. Just eat a moderate amount. And because rice dumplings are foods that easily cause internal heat, if the mother eats too much, she will get internal heat, and then the baby who drinks the mother's milk will also get internal heat.

Mothers should eat more fruits and vegetables, such as carrots, green vegetables, etc. during breastfeeding. It is better to eat more fresh fruits with high water content: oranges, melons, peaches, etc.

Food taboos during breastfeeding

1. Chocolate: You can eat chocolate during breastfeeding, but you must pay attention to the amount, which depends on each woman's body system and the age of the baby. Eating too much chocolate is harmful to both new mothers and babies. The cocoa alkaline contained in chocolate will penetrate into breast milk and accumulate in the baby's body. Theobromine can damage the central nervous system and heart, weaken muscles, increase urine output, and cause indigestion, unstable sleep, and constant crying and making a fuss in babies. If pregnant women eat too much chocolate, it will affect their appetite and make them gain weight.

2. Tea water: Because the substances contained in tea will enter the baby's body with breast milk, making the baby prone to intestinal cramps and inexplicable crying, making the child sleep poorly and causing other complications, breastfeeding mothers should avoid drinking tea water, otherwise it will affect the health of the child.

3. Alcohol and tobacco: A small amount of alcohol can promote milk secretion and has no effect on the baby; too much alcohol will inhibit milk secretion and affect uterine contractions, so you should drink less or not drink it. As for tobacco, if the breastfeeding mother still smokes during the breastfeeding period, the tar will quickly appear in the breast milk and be absorbed by the baby. Studies have shown that tobacco tar has adverse effects on the respiratory system of animals. Therefore, breastfeeding mothers are advised to quit smoking and drinking, and avoid breathing secondhand smoke.

4. Freshly ground coffee, Coca-Cola and other drinks: Freshly ground coffee will excite the body's nerve centers. 1 cup of 150ml freshly ground coffee contains 100ml of caffeine. It is best for ordinary people not to drink more than 3 cups a day. Although there is no evidence that it is harmful to babies, breastfeeding mothers should consume it with some control or stop drinking it. The same is true for drinks like Coca-Cola.

5. Medicines: For breastfeeding mothers, although most medicines are not likely to cause product damage under normal usage, it is still recommended that breastfeeding mothers actively inform their doctors of their breastfeeding status before taking the medicine on their own, so that the doctor can prescribe appropriate medicines and choose medicines with a shorter duration to ensure that the dosage is minimum according to breast milk.

In addition, if the mother takes medicine after breastfeeding the baby, she should feed the baby when the concentration of the medicine in the breast milk is minimized, so that the baby will be safer.

6. Skin allergies: Sometimes newborn babies will have some skin allergies. It is better for mothers to observe whether there are rashes on the baby's skin and evaluate their own diet as a reference for early detection and early treatment. Therefore, mothers are advised to breastfeed and avoid eating any foods that may cause allergies in children.
