What are the symptoms of female cystitis

Cystitis can be divided into two types: acute cystitis and chronic cystitis. After becoming ill, patients will show symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating, which have a great impact on their normal life. Women are an important group of cystitis patients. They should know the symptoms of this disease and seek timely treatment if any abnormality is found. So, what are the symptoms of cystitis in women? Let’s take a look below.

1. Patients experience burning pain in the urethra when urinating, and may develop symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. Severely ill patients may also experience conditions similar to urinary incontinence. At this time, the symptoms of frequent urination and urgency are very obvious, and urination can reach 5-6 times or more per hour. The patient's urine volume is not much, and seriously ill patients only have a few drops of urine, and symptoms of lower abdominal pain occur at the end of urination.

2. Turbid urine. The urine of most patients has changed and is particularly turbid. Sometimes hematuria may occur, and it is particularly obvious at the end of urination. If macroscopic hematuria occurs, it is acute hemorrhagic cystitis.

3. The patient has mild tenderness in the bladder area of the pubic area, accompanied by mild low back pain. Generally, the inflammatory lesions are confined to the bladder mucosa. There will be no fever or leukocytosis in the blood. The patient's systemic symptoms are particularly mild. Some patients have a sense of fatigue and feel tired all over the body, which affects their daily life and work.

Treatment of cystitis in women:

First of all, you need to rest in bed, drink plenty of water, avoid irritating foods, and hot water sitz baths can improve blood circulation in the perineum and relieve symptoms. Alkaline drugs such as sodium bicarbonate or potassium citrate can reduce urine acidity and relieve bladder spasms. Flavonoids (Urinary Ling) can relieve spasms and reduce urinary tract irritation symptoms. The traditional 10-14 day antibacterial therapy is not necessary for uncomplicated cystitis. A single high-dose or a short course of 3 days is recommended both domestically and internationally.

Note:

For female patients with cystitis, do not hold urine, as holding urine provides an environment for bacterial reproduction and induces the occurrence of cystitis; drink enough water to reduce the chance of bacterial infection; pay attention to sexual hygiene and do not have sexual intercourse during an attack of cystitis; do not use oily skin care products around the genitals and avoid using bath gel containing fragrances; sanitary napkins should be replaced frequently during menstruation; wear cotton underwear, and air circulation can prevent the growth of bacteria.

Cystitis is caused by bacterial infection. The most typical symptom is bladder irritation, namely frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating and even urge incontinence, and there may be hematuria and pyuria. It is more common in women, but men are also susceptible to cystitis if they have urinary tract obstruction such as prostate hypertrophy or bladder stones or foreign bodies. Active treatment and prevention of recurrence are the keys to managing cystitis in women.
