Can cervical cysts become cancerous?

Cervical Nabothian cyst is a common manifestation of chronic cervicitis. Its principle is similar to that of acne. Generally, cervical Nabothian cyst will not become cancerous, so patients do not need to worry too much. However, it still needs to be treated in time to avoid causing other diseases or infertility. Therefore, do not underestimate the occurrence of cervical Nabothian cyst.

Cancer is prevalent and everyone is in danger. Once they suffer from any disease, they are afraid that it may be related to a tumor. This is especially true if a "tumor" or "swelling" is found during a physical examination, which makes people even more uneasy. Indeed, it is necessary to be cautious and take care of your body, but if you are suspicious of every disease and even start looking for folk remedies, then you are worrying about nothing and the result will not be worth it. Many young women find that they have cervical cysts during physical examinations and are worried about whether they will turn into cancer.

In fact, cervical nabothian cyst is one of the manifestations of chronic cervicitis. Its formation principle is the same as that of acne. During the healing process of cervical erosion, the newly formed squamous epithelium covers the duct opening of the cervical gland or extends into the gland duct, blocking the gland duct opening, so that the gland secretions cannot flow out. The cyst formed by retention is called cervical nabothian cyst. This type of cyst is simply a collection of secretions and will not become cancerous. It is harmless and does not require treatment. For cervical disease, we should actually pay more attention to TCT and HPV testing.

The cause of the formation of Nabothian cyst is similar to that of "acne" on the face. During the healing process of cervical erosion, the newly formed squamous epithelium covers the opening of the cervical gland duct or extends into the gland duct, blocking the opening of the gland duct; the connective tissue around the gland duct proliferates or scars form, compressing the gland duct, causing the gland duct to narrow or even block, and the drainage of glandular secretions is blocked. The cyst formed by retention is called cervical Nabothian cyst.

Cervical cysts generally do not become cancerous, so don't worry too much. However, if the disease is not treated in time, it may turn into cancer. The spread of inflammation can also cause pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis, endometritis, etc., and in severe cases even lead to infertility. Due to the long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation, the cervical tissue repeatedly becomes congested and edematous, and inflammatory cells infiltrate and connective tissue proliferate, resulting in cervical hypertrophy. Under long-term inflammatory stimulation, a small number of patients with chronic cervicitis have a tendency to malignant transformation, so high attention is still needed.

At the same time, the onset of cervical cysts is related to long-term chronic inflammatory stimulation. It usually occurs secondary to cervicitis and may become cancerous. Therefore, it is recommended to actively treat vaginitis. If the Nabothian cyst is relatively large, surgical treatment such as the Lip knife and the self-coagulating knife can be used. Therefore, our correct attitude towards our own illness should be: neither ignore the disease and avoid seeing a doctor; nor be too panic-stricken and worry about nothing. Maintaining a good and healthy mentality will also be beneficial to the treatment of the disease.
