What is the difference between breast hyperplasia and breast nodules

Generally speaking, the mammary gland is the area most prone to lesions inside a woman's breast, so every woman needs to pay attention to her breasts. Among them, breast hyperplasia and breast nodules are two relatively common breast diseases, but most women cannot distinguish the difference between these two diseases. So what is the difference between breast hyperplasia and breast nodules?

1. The difference between breast hyperplasia and breast nodules

Breast nodules are cystic hyperplasia of the breast, a non-tumor disease. Common in women of childbearing age, spontaneous remission after menopause. There are 4 types:

Mastodynia (pain before and during menstruation during puberty, no lumps, disappears after menstruation).

Lobular hyperplasia (20-35 years old, premenstrual pain, accompanied by multiple nodules. Relieved after menstruation), treated with Xiaoyao Pills.

For fibroadenoma or papilloma (single lump, clear border, large mobility, no pain, adhesion), take Xiaoyaosan 3-9g, 3 times a day, and check regularly. Surgical removal if necessary.

Surgical treatment of fibrocystic hyperplasia or sclerotic mastopathy (after the age of 30, multiple small nodules, in patches, tough texture, unclear boundaries, often bilateral, mild tenderness. Related to the menstrual cycle).

Cysplastic breast disease is a pathological hyperplasia characterized by physiological proliferation and incomplete involution of normal mammary lobules and disorder of normal mammary structure. It is neither an inflammatory nor a tumor disease.

There are many types of breast hyperplasia. In adolescent or young women, there is breast pain before menstruation, and sometimes the pain will spread to the shoulders and back. The breast pain gradually subsides after menstruation. Only some thickening of the breast can be felt, without obvious nodules. These are physiological changes, not a disease, and do not require treatment. They are physiological hyperplasia. But other situations require careful consideration. Timely treatment can effectively prevent the deterioration of the disease.

2. Does breast hyperplasia require surgery?

Doctors usually first use some Chinese and Western medicine drugs to treat breast hyperplasia. Western medicine also uses some hormone drugs, but excessive use of hormones can cause hormonal imbalance in the human body. If conservative treatment with traditional Chinese medicine and massage techniques is not satisfactory, we can perform surgery, but do not consider surgery lightly.

The proportion of patients with breast hyperplasia who undergo surgery is probably less than 10%. For the vast majority of patients, we can recover their health through conservative treatment, medication and manual treatment, and avoid the pain of surgery. Because surgery affects the appearance and causes pain to patients, doctors generally do not recommend surgery. They mainly use conservative treatment, which can control and relieve the symptoms, thus avoiding a lot of pain.

3. Do breast nodules require surgery?

When breast lobular hyperplasia develops into nodules, injections and medication will not make the nodules disappear. The only way is surgical treatment, and postoperative pathological examination must be performed to confirm the diagnosis.

There is a certain correlation between breast hyperplasia and breast cancer. Severe atypical breast hyperplasia can be considered a precancerous lesion, and the clinical manifestations of such patients are often mainly hard "nodules".

If color Doppler ultrasound shows that the nodule has low echo, is irregular, has a complete capsule, has blood flow signals, has a high elasticity coefficient, or has a growth trend, these are clear indications for surgery.

In addition, if the patient has a family history of breast cancer and has a heavy mental burden, and the clinical manifestations include severe breast pain, obvious glandular edema, high estrogen levels, etc., timely surgery can be considered, which can relieve breast symptoms and reduce unnecessary mental burden.

It is recommended that women over 40 years old have a breast ultrasound or breast mammography examination once a year, especially those with a family history of breast cancer.
