Symptoms of pregnancy in the first week

Pregnancy is both a happy and tormenting time for women. It can be said that there is both pain and happiness, and there is also the excitement of looking forward to the birth of the baby. However, the early symptoms of a woman's pregnancy are not very obvious in the first week. It is basically difficult for a woman who is pregnant for the first time to find out that she is pregnant so early, because some women have a small reaction in the early stage, but some have a big reaction. In the first week of pregnancy, a woman will feel tired, and her breasts and abdomen will feel some discomfort or changes. Once a woman finds out at this time, she must be extra careful. It is best to go for a check-up, because the fetus is very unstable in the early stage, so as to avoid accidentally hurting the fetus.

Symptoms of pregnancy in the first week:

Most women will experience some early pregnancy symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy, and after one month of pregnancy they will also experience some early pregnancy reactions, such as: nausea, vomiting, increased salivation, unwillingness to eat or picky eating, as well as dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, and a preference for acidic foods. However, if you suspect you are pregnant, you will have to wait at least one week after your period is delayed to test and confirm the pregnancy, so the early symptoms of pregnancy are not actually obvious in the first week.

After one week of pregnancy, the early pregnancy symptoms and early pregnancy reactions are not obvious, but there will be some clues indicating that you are conceiving a new life.

1. Tiredness: Often feel tired, even if you don’t do anything, and some pregnant mothers often feel like sleeping at any time.

2. Nausea and vomiting: often feel upset or have a slight nausea

3. Sensitivity to smell: This indicates that the fetus’s automatic protection mechanism is activated at this time. The smell of alcohol or cigarettes makes people feel uncomfortable.

4. Food preferences: Things that you usually like to eat, you no longer like to eat now.

5. Breast changes: nipples feel tingling, breasts become softer and fuller, areola becomes darker, and the tiny mammary glands on the areola become larger.

6. Discomfort in the pelvic cavity: You may feel discomfort in the entire lower abdomen to the pelvic cavity.

7. Abdominal discomfort: There is often a feeling of bloating, and you may feel abdominal bloating and cramps.

Relaxing can help reduce early pregnancy reactions. Pregnancy reactions generally occur between 6 weeks of amenorrhea and 3 months of pregnancy. After this stage, ordinary pregnant women can often recover on their own without treatment.

However, the degree of pregnancy reaction varies from person to person. A considerable number of women will experience very severe vomiting, which is not only frequent, but they may even be unable to eat or drink, seriously affecting their nutrient intake. The first two months of pregnancy is the critical period for the fetus's intellectual development. The differentiation of organs such as the heart, brain, mouth, teeth, ears, and palate are also formed within three months. If expectant mothers suffer from malnutrition due to pregnancy reactions, it will seriously affect the development of the fetus.

Moreover, severe vomiting in pregnant women causes a large loss of ions in the body, which will lead to obvious dehydration and even continuous vomiting. If the condition continues to worsen, serious symptoms such as convulsions, coma, jaundice, etc. will occur, endangering the health of the pregnant woman and fetus, and even causing fetal death. Therefore, if dangerous symptoms caused by severe vomiting occur, you need to go to the hospital for timely treatment.

To deal with pregnancy reactions during early pregnancy, psychological state is very important. Nausea and vomiting are normal reactions. Most people who experience severe vomiting during pregnancy are women who are overly nervous and anxious. Very few of them have gastrointestinal diseases. Through active psychological adjustment and cooperation with treatment, they can basically recover.

In general, doctors do not recommend the use of medication, because many drugs for stopping vomiting and eliminating early pregnancy reactions can have serious effects on the development of the fetus. She suggested that in order to reduce the adverse effects of severe pregnancy reactions on pregnancy, expectant mothers should relax and not worry too much about pregnancy reactions.

What should women pay attention to in the first week of pregnancy:

1. Deal with morning sickness calmly. About half of pregnant women will experience varying degrees of nausea and morning vomiting around 6 weeks of pregnancy. This is mainly related to the increase in the level of human chorionic gonadotropin in the blood of pregnant women. If the nausea and vomiting are not severe and the pregnant woman can tolerate them, no special treatment is required and they are normal physiological phenomena. Just keep a normal mind, get enough sleep, eat small meals frequently, and choose light, easily digestible foods that you like.

2. Be careful about radiation. In daily life, it is difficult for us to say exactly which radiation will affect the fetus. Therefore, experts still recommend that pregnant women wear anti-radiation clothing, stay away from the TV, walk away when using the microwave, and do not hang the mobile phone on the chest. Pregnant women should pay special attention to their physical health and must avoid various diseases, especially viral infections such as chickenpox, herpes, and even influenza, which can easily cause serious effects on the fetus, such as affecting the child's intellectual development or the loss of facial functions. Try to avoid crowded places as much as possible, add or remove clothes in time when the seasons change, and take in enough protein and vitamins to enhance your own resistance. The mother's physical condition will directly affect the fetus, and the mother's mood is closely related to the healthy development of the fetus.

3. Prenatal diagnosis. Prenatal diagnosis can rule out some major abnormalities and can be done as early as 8 weeks of pregnancy. Currently, the most commonly used chromosome testing methods are chorionic villus sampling and peripheral blood screening. If necessary, amniocentesis can be performed at 16-20 weeks of pregnancy for further diagnosis. Nowadays, many electrical appliances and electronic products have certain radiation, such as microwave ovens, computers, etc. Pregnant women must pay attention and not use them if possible. For example, when using mobile phones, you can connect headphones, so as to increase the distance between the mobile phone and the human body as much as possible to reduce radiation.
