What causes excessive vaginal discharge?

Leucorrhea is a secretion from the vagina. Under normal circumstances, it is white and transparent. If there is a gynecological disease, the leucorrhea will turn yellow, so female friends should understand the symptoms corresponding to abnormal leucorrhea. When the amount of leucorrhea increases, it may be due to the onset of pregnancy, or it may be due to endocrine disorders and the onset of menstruation, so female friends should pay attention to vaginal hygiene.

1. Indirect causes

1. Stress type: Long-term excessive stress will affect the endocrine system, causing endocrine disorders and increased leucorrhea.

2. Cyclicity: This is a normal physiological condition. As a girl matures, 2 to 3 days after ovulation, her leucorrhea will gradually become thicker and turbid, and the amount will decrease.

2. Progesterone

The amount of leucorrhea increases before menstruation and during pregnancy due to the increase in progesterone.

3. Pressure

Excessive stress in women can cause neurological disorders, affect normal endocrine regulation, and may also cause excessive vaginal discharge.

4. Trichomonas vaginalis infection

This infection can easily cause excessive vaginal discharge with a foul odor, as well as itching of the genitals.

5. Gynecological diseases

Gynecological diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis, cervical erosion, vaginitis and other diseases will cause increased vaginal discharge. The symptoms are excessive vaginal discharge, increased menstruation or menstrual disorders, lower abdominal distension, pain, lumbar and sacral pain, which are often aggravated after fatigue, sexual intercourse and before and after menstruation, and sometimes there is low fever, fatigue or lack of energy, general discomfort and insomnia.

What gynecological diseases can cause abnormal leucorrhea?

1. Gynecological diseases in the elderly

After entering old age, women experience increased vaginal discharge and blood in their vaginal discharge. In most cases, this is caused by senile vaginitis, cervical polyps, severe cervical erosion, cervical cancer, or uterine body cancer or submucosal uterine fibroids protruding from the external os of the cervix.

2. Pelvic inflammatory disease

If you have a lot of vaginal discharge and it lasts for a long time, and you have a lot of clear vaginal discharge except for a few days when your period comes, and your underwear gets wet, etc., these situations may indicate that you have a gynecological disease. In addition, if it is accompanied by symptoms such as low back pain and lower abdominal pain, these are common symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease.

3. Uterine fibroids

If the leucorrhea appears yellow or resembles fish washing water, and has a foul smell, then these abnormal leucorrhea may be caused by necrosis or degeneration of certain tissues. In addition to these symptoms, if the amount of vaginal discharge suddenly increases, or even requires the use of sanitary pads, it is recommended that you have a check-up for submucous uterine fibroids, uterine body cancer, cervical cancer, etc. as soon as possible.

4. Trichomonas infection

If the leucorrhea is purulent and has a fishy smell, or if there is thin purulent and watery leucorrhea, accompanied by occasional vulvar itching and other symptoms, then these may be due to Trichomonas or purulent bacterial infection.
