Polyps below

Polyps below

There is no doubt that every woman is particularly concerned about the health of her lower body. At the same time, the female genitals are an area prone to disease. When a woman finds polyps in the lower area, she needs to consider vaginal wall polyps. Vaginal wall polyps are a relatively rare gynecological disease, so most women don't know much about it. In summary, there are several things to know about vaginal wall polyps.

1. Why do women have vaginal polyps?

Cervical polyps are a manifestation of chronic cervicitis. There is a type of polyp whose root is attached to the cervical opening or cervical canal. It is formed by local hyperplasia of the cervical mucosa under the stimulation of inflammation and protrudes out of the external opening of the cervix. The surface of the polyp is covered by a layer of columnar epithelium, which contains cervical glands. The stroma is rich in microvessels and loose connective tissue, accompanied by inflammatory cell infiltration. This type of polyp can be single or multiple, and is generally small in size, with a diameter of less than 1 cm. It looks like a tongue, is bright red in color, soft and brittle in texture, easy to bleed, and has a slender pedicle. Another type of cervical polyp occurs in the cervical vaginal part, with a surface covered by stratified squamous epithelium and a stroma containing fibrous connective tissue. This type of polyp is superficial, protrudes to the surface, has a wide base, is light red in color, and has a tough texture.

Generally speaking, women with cervical polyps do not have any discomfort symptoms. Sometimes there is an increase in leucorrhea, or blood in the leucorrhea, or bleeding during intercourse. If the above situation is found, the patient should go to the hospital for treatment. Many patients have cervical polyps discovered during screening or gynecological examinations for other diseases.

2. Diagnosis of vaginal wall polyps

The diagnosis can be made based on the patient's surgical history, clinical manifestations of vaginal bleeding, gynecological examination and histopathological examination.

Vaginal examination may reveal a nodular mass or an invasive lump located on the suture line at the top of the vagina, which is often the size of a grain of rice and can cause a small amount of bleeding when touched. The vaginal walls become hard and narrow. This proves that you have vaginal polyps.

3. Examination and testing of vaginal wall polyps

Colposcopy: Examination or palpation with a vaginal speculum may reveal swelling, hardening, and narrowing of the vaginal wall.

Histopathological examination: For those with infiltrated skin or skin ulcers, tissue biopsy can be performed with forceps. For those with intact skin, needle aspiration biopsy or puncture biopsy, incisional biopsy or excisional biopsy can also be performed.

Others: routine blood test, secretion examination.

What are the dangers of cervical polyps

1. Female infertility: The formation and enlargement of cervical polyps will affect the shape of the cervical opening, which is not conducive to the passage of sperm, so there is a possibility of infertility.

2. Irregular bleeding: Patients with cervical polyps may experience bleeding and abnormal secretions during sexual intercourse.

3. Recurrent attacks: If only the polyps are removed, the chronic inflammation of the cervix is not eliminated and the pathogens are still lurking in the cervical tissue, so recurrence is still possible. Therefore, after treating cervical polyps, chronic cervical inflammation should also be treated to prevent recurrence of polyps.

4. Possibility of canceration: Polyp tissue has microvessels, and generally a cancer examination is required after resection. If malignant changes are found, further treatment is required.
