The discharge of green liquid from female friends' vagina is an abnormal physiological condition. Female friends are advised to check the vaginal and uterine problems in time. This situation may be caused by inflammation such as Trichomonas vaginitis or candidal vaginitis, which will lead to the presence of fungi and itching in the leucorrhea, and the secretions contain white blood cells and smell bad. Therefore, everyone should seek treatment in time, otherwise it will affect fertility.

Symptoms of Trichomonas vaginitis

25%-50% of patients with Trichomonas vaginitis have no symptoms in the early stages of infection. The main symptoms are increased vaginal discharge and vulvar itching, occasionally with burning, pain, and dyspareunia.

The discharge is typically thin, purulent, yellow-green, foamy, and has a foul odor. The secretion is purulent because it contains white blood cells. If it is combined with other infections, it will be yellow-green. It is foamy and smelly because Trichomonas anaerobically ferments sugars to produce foul-smelling gases.

The itchy areas are mainly the vaginal opening and vulva. If combined with urinary tract infection, there may be frequent urination, painful urination, and sometimes hematuria.

Trichomonas vaginalis can devour sperm and hinder the production of lactic acid, affecting the survival of sperm in the vagina and causing infertility. Examination revealed congestion of the vaginal mucosa. In severe cases, there were scattered bleeding spots, and even bleeding spots on the cervix, forming a "strawberry-like" cervix. There was a large amount of leucorrhea in the posterior fornix, which was grayish yellow, yellow-white thin liquid, or yellow-green purulent secretions, often in a foamy state. There are no abnormal changes in the vaginal mucosa of carriers.

Diagnosis of Trichomonas vaginitis

Typical cases of Trichomonas vaginitis are easy to diagnose, and the diagnosis can be confirmed if Trichomonas is found in vaginal secretions. The simplest method is the physiological saline hanging drop method. Under the microscope, the wave-like movement of Trichomonas and the increased number of white blood cells can be seen being moved. The sensitivity of this method is 60%-70%.

For suspected patients, if Trichomonas cannot be found through multiple hanging drop methods, they can be sent for culture, with an accuracy of about 98%. Sexual intercourse, vaginal douching or topical medication should be avoided 24-48 hours before collecting secretions. Do not apply lubricant to the speculum when collecting secretions. After the secretions are taken out, they should be sent for examination in time and keep warm, otherwise the activity of Trichomonas will be weakened, making identification difficult. Polymerase chain reaction can also be used to diagnose Trichomonas with a sensitivity of 90% and a specificity of 99.8%.
