Is miscarriage scary?

Many female friends always feel that miscarriage is a very terrible thing, so when they are pregnant, they will worry about signs of miscarriage all day long. In fact, don’t worry too much, you must relax yourself. If pregnant women are always in a nervous mood, it will easily cause miscarriage. In addition, some female friends may also cause habitual miscarriage.

The main symptoms are vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain after the pregnancy is confirmed. Clinical types can be divided into:

1. Threatened abortion

Before 8 weeks of pregnancy, symptoms often include a small amount of vaginal bleeding, followed by paroxysmal lower abdominal pain or back pain. Gynecological examination showed that the cervix was not dilated, the fetal membranes were not ruptured, the products of conception had not been expelled, and the size of the uterus was consistent with the number of weeks of amenorrhea. After rest and treatment, some patients improved. If vaginal bleeding increases or lower abdominal pain worsens, miscarriage may become inevitable.

2. Miscarriage is inevitable

Means that miscarriage is inevitable. It develops from threatened abortion, at which time the amount of vaginal bleeding increases, the paroxysmal lower abdominal pain worsens, or vaginal discharge (rupture of membranes) occurs. Gynecological examination shows that the cervix is dilated, and sometimes embryonic tissue or fetal sac can be seen blocking the cervix. The size of the uterus is consistent with the number of weeks of amenorrhea or slightly smaller. At this time, uterine contractions gradually intensify, and if they continue to progress, the pregnancy tissue may be partially or completely expelled, leading to incomplete or complete miscarriage.

3. Incomplete abortion

It means that some of the products of pregnancy have been expelled from the body, but some remain in the uterine cavity, which develops into inevitable miscarriage. Because some products of pregnancy remain in the uterine cavity, uterine contraction is affected, resulting in continuous uterine bleeding and even hemorrhagic shock due to excessive bleeding. Gynecological examination showed that the cervix was dilated and blood was constantly flowing out of the cervix. Sometimes placental tissue could be seen blocking the cervix or some products of pregnancy had been discharged into the vagina while some remained in the uterine cavity. The uterus is usually smaller than the number of weeks of menstruation.

4. Complete miscarriage

It means that all the products of pregnancy have been expelled, vaginal bleeding has gradually stopped, and abdominal pain has gradually disappeared. Gynecological examination showed that the cervix was closed and the uterus was close to normal size.

5. Missed abortion

It refers to the embryo or fetus that has died and is retained in the uterine cavity and has not been naturally expelled. When it occurs in early pregnancy, it is also called embryonic arrest. After the death of the embryo or fetus, the uterus no longer expands but shrinks, and the early pregnancy reaction disappears. If the pregnancy has reached the second half, the pregnant woman's abdomen will not increase in size and the fetal movement will disappear. Gynecological examination showed that the cervix was not dilated, the uterus was smaller than the number of weeks after menopause, and the texture was not soft. The fetal heartbeat was not heard.

6. Abortion infection

During the abortion process, if vaginal bleeding lasts too long, tissue remains in the uterine cavity, or the abortion is illegal, it may cause intrauterine infection. In severe cases, the infection can extend to the pelvic cavity, abdominal cavity and even the whole body, with complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease, peritonitis, sepsis and septic shock, which is called abortion infection.
