When an abortion is performed, lochia will actually occur. So, what does lochia abortion look like? In fact, lochia is a kind of tissue in the female uterus. Lochia will appear after abortion or childbirth, and will also be accompanied by bleeding. Generally speaking, the appearance of lochia is normal. However, if you find some abnormalities in the lochia, you need to pay attention to it.

Within 3-4 weeks after the fetus is delivered, the tissue, mucus in the uterine cavity and the blood discharged from the wound are mixed together and discharged from the vagina, commonly known as lochia.

Because the menstrual blood was damaged during childbirth, the woman is weak and insufficient, and cannot collect the blood, or the bad blood is not completely removed, the good blood will be difficult to calm down, and will flow out together and will not stop for a long time. Therefore, lochia is often related to deficiency or blood stasis. Normal lochia has a bloody smell but no odor, lasts for 4 to 6 weeks, and the total amount is about 250ml-500ml, with large individual differences. In the first week after delivery, the amount of lochia is large and bright red. It contains a large amount of blood, small blood clots and necrotic decidual tissue, which is called red lochia. After one week to half a month, the amount of blood in the lochia decreases, and there are more necrotic decidua, cervical mucus, vaginal secretions and bacteria, which makes the lochia turn into light red serous fluid. The lochia at this time is called serous lochia. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that if the women are injured in menstrual blood after childbirth, and the blood becomes insufficient and cannot be collected, or if the bad blood is not completely removed, the good blood will be difficult to calm down and will flow out together for a long time.

The reason why women have unclean lochia after childbirth is generally related to physical weakness, mostly due to qi deficiency, blood stasis or blood heat. Women with qi deficiency have insufficient blood and qi before delivery, and they lose blood during delivery and do not take good care of themselves after delivery, which results in damage to the spleen and qi due to overwork and inability to absorb blood. Those with blood stasis have lochia congestion and poor blood circulation. Women with blood heat lose blood during delivery and have yin deficiency, which causes blood heat to run wildly.
