Can a blood test detect an ectopic pregnancy?

Can a blood test detect an ectopic pregnancy?

Ectopic pregnancy is actually an adverse pregnancy disease, which is very harmful to women. If it is not treated in time, it may cause intrauterine bleeding and even seriously endanger personal safety until the ectopic pregnancy ruptures. Therefore, after pregnancy, pregnant mothers must confirm whether they are in the uterine cavity. So, can the blood test for ectopic pregnancy be detected?

Can I get a blood test for ectopic pregnancy?

There are many ways to check for ectopic pregnancy, and blood HCG testing is one of the ways that can help with the check. Once the results of several consecutive blood HCG tests show that the value is lower than the normal pregnancy level, the possibility of ectopic pregnancy should be considered, and it is recommended to do a B-ultrasound test for further confirmation.

B-ultrasound examination can clearly see the location, size, and shape of the gestational sac, and can also check the fetal bud and fetal heartbeat. It can determine whether the uterine cavity is a single or multiple pregnancy. At the same time, it can see whether the test tube embryo is in the uterus, which is helpful to eliminate the possibility of abnormal pregnancy. Therefore, B-ultrasound examination is currently the most accurate and reliable way to diagnose whether a pregnant woman has an ectopic pregnancy.

When B-ultrasound examination cannot rule out ectopic pregnancy, other ectopic pregnancy examination methods such as posterior fornix puncture examination, diagnostic curettage, laparoscopy, etc. can be used to assist in the diagnosis.

Effects of ectopic pregnancy

If a woman has experienced an ectopic pregnancy before, and it does not cause rupture, she can usually get pregnant again if it is treated in time. The faster the ectopic pregnancy is resolved, the less damage to the bilateral fallopian tubes, and the next pregnancy can usually be carried safely to full term.

If the ectopic pregnancy is a fallopian tube pregnancy, it can still be a normal pregnancy. If the fallopian tubes on one side of the ectopic pregnancy are removed through surgery, and the fallopian tubes on the other side are normal and of high quality, there is still a chance of pregnancy; but if both fallopian tubes have abnormalities or other diseases, the woman will not be able to get pregnant.

Under normal circumstances, it is better to consider pregnancy after recuperation for more than half a year after ectopic pregnancy surgery, so that the body has an extra period of time to slowly recover. In addition, it is recommended to do a series of related tests such as angiography before planning pregnancy to see whether the fallopian tubes on both sides remain smooth. In addition, it is necessary to check whether there is gynecological inflammation. Only when it is confirmed that you can get pregnant again can you consider this will be more guaranteed for your health. If the fallopian tube is blocked, it is necessary to perform fluid perfusion first; if there are symptoms of inflammation, it is necessary to take anti-inflammatory measures before considering pregnancy to avoid increasing the risk of ectopic pregnancy.

I believe that female friends should be more aware of how serious the harm of ectopic pregnancy is to the female body. Therefore, they should develop a good diet and lifestyle on a daily basis. They must undergo prenatal checkups before pregnancy to ensure that the body is in the best condition. If there is no pregnancy plan, they must take good contraceptive measures. Only by doing so can they better prevent the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy.
