How long should I wait to get checked?

Within one month after the IUD is inserted, you should pay special attention to vaginal hygiene and pay attention to whether there are any side effects, so you should have more examinations after the IUD is inserted. Regular check-ups are required one month after the IUD is inserted, and check-ups should be conducted every 6 months. I hope that female friends will pay attention to the care measures after the IUD is inserted, so as to avoid the ineffectiveness of the contraceptive measures and the side effects of the IUD.

How long does it take to have an IUD rechecked?

In fact, intrauterine contraceptive ring is one of the best methods of contraception for women. Although it is the best method, it will eventually be accompanied by some adverse reactions. Increased menstrual flow is a common adverse reaction to wearing a copper intrauterine contraceptive ring. Generally, the menstrual flow will increase significantly within 6 months of wearing the ring. Although it will gradually decrease after 6 months, it will still be more than before the ring was inserted. The vast majority of women can metabolize normally without causing anemia or affecting their health; however, a small number of women will develop anemia due to poor metabolism. To prevent this from happening, the best way is to check your hemoglobin at least once a year so that iron deficiency anemia can be detected early and treated in time.

In addition, the loss of intrauterine contraceptive ring is often one of the common causes of contraceptive failure. This is because the foreign body reaction of the intrauterine contraceptive ring stimulates frequent contractions of the uterus, or the birth trauma causes the cervix to become too loose, causing the ring to fall off. When the hair falls off completely, it is easy to find; if the hair falls off during menstruation and the amount of blood is heavy, some women may find it difficult to detect, which may lead to unexpected pregnancy; when the hair falls off partially, it is often difficult to detect by oneself, and most of the time it is discovered during a doctor's examination. Therefore, regular annual check-ups can not only tell you whether the IUD has fallen off, but also determine whether the IUD is in its normal position in the uterus, thereby truly achieving the effect of contraception.

What are the side effects of IUD?

1. There may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding and lower abdominal discomfort after insertion, which will mostly disappear on their own; the main complication of intrauterine contraceptive ring placement is bleeding. The main symptoms are excessive menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period, irregular menstrual bleeding, etc. Generally speaking, there will always be a small amount of bleeding after the ring is placed, but it will not exceed one week. If the bleeding lasts for more than a week, or the amount of bleeding is as much as menstrual flow, it is an abnormal reaction. If there is heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, or fever, you should go to a medical institution for diagnosis and treatment;

2. Increased vaginal discharge. The IUD can cause aseptic inflammation of the endometrium and foreign body reaction, which can lead to increased secretions, especially for IUDs with tail threads. Anti-inflammatory drugs can be given if necessary.

3. If the tail thread is too hard or of inappropriate length, it may cause pain to the man during intercourse or even cause injury during intercourse. You can ask your doctor to cut the tail thread short enough to keep it only inside the cervical canal.

4. Lower abdominal distension and back pain are caused by uterine contraction after the placement of the IUD. Sometimes it can also be caused by the IUD being too large or moved to the lower part of the uterus. Mild cases do not require treatment and will generally adapt gradually; severe cases can try indomethacin or other anti-inflammatory drugs for symptomatic treatment; if symptoms persist, a suitable type of contraceptive device can be replaced; if B-ultrasound confirms that the contraceptive device has moved downward, the position of the device can also be corrected.

5. Comprehensive cardiocerebral reaction during the operation. If this reaction occurs, 0.5 mg of atropine is usually injected slowly intravenously. The reaction will improve after 5 minutes. If there is no improvement after about 1 hour of observation, the contraceptive device should be removed.

6. If any of the following situations occur, go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment immediately: severe abdominal pain, fever, pelvic pain, increased vaginal discharge; menstruation has not stopped or there is a possibility of pregnancy; the IUD falls off; pain during sexual intercourse; excessive bleeding or irregular bleeding or bleeding that does not stop, etc.
