Sudden vulvar itching and increased vaginal discharge

Sudden vulvar itching and increased vaginal discharge

Female friends must not ignore the problem of vulvar itching, because vulvar itching may be closely related to candidal vaginitis. Therefore, female friends must pay attention to their genital hygiene and clean their genitals regularly to avoid bacteria infecting the vagina. Some women feel that they suddenly have vulvar itching, accompanied by an increase in leucorrhea. Is this caused by candidal vaginitis?

|Why does leucorrhea increase?

We know that leucorrhea is composed of secretions from the cervix, uterus and vaginal exudates. According to the source of leucorrhea, medical research and analysis show that there are several possible reasons for increased leucorrhea in women:

(1) Pathogen infection. The use of contaminated sanitary products allows pathogens to enter the reproductive tract through the vaginal opening, causing infection and increased vaginal discharge. Some types of pathogens enter the female reproductive system and may infect the reproductive tract, causing increased vaginal discharge. For example: When women go to the toilet, if they wipe the toilet paper in the wrong direction, they may bring bacteria from the anus into the reproductive tract and cause excessive vaginal discharge. Therefore, when women use toilet paper to wipe the anus, they should develop the habit of wiping from the vaginal opening toward the anus or to the side.

(2) Trichomonas vaginalis infection. This infection can easily cause an increase in vaginal discharge, accompanied by a foul odor, and itching of the genitals. It is generally believed that this infection is a type of sexually transmitted disease, which can easily be transmitted between sexual partners. During treatment, the sexual partners must be treated at the same time to prevent cross-infection and achieve a complete cure.

(3) Cervical erosion. The trauma of childbirth, changes in sex hormones, or inflammation of the cervix caused by sexual intercourse may lead to cervical erosion and increase the amount of leucorrhea. A small number of women may experience cervical erosion without any cause, that is, congenital cervical erosion, which can also cause increased leucorrhea.

(4) Filterable viral infections of the cervix, vagina, and vulva. Some virus infections can be cured without treatment, such as the virus that causes the common cold. However, virus infections such as condyloma acuminatum often cause increased vaginal discharge.

(5) Candida albicans infection causes increased leucorrhea. Candida albicans has two characteristics: the first is that it has very strong vitality; the second is that it likes moisture. Therefore it is not easy to cure. People who take antibiotics, drugs or adrenal steroids for a long time, as well as pregnant women, diabetics, and women who like to wear tight clothes are more susceptible to infection, and it is not easy to cure once infected.

(6) Atrophic vaginitis. A small number of women have lost both ovaries due to illness or have early menopause or are post-menopausal women. Due to the gradual lack of estrogen in the body, the vaginal wall gradually becomes fragile and susceptible to bacterial infection and inflammation, leading to increased leucorrhea. It is also possible that increased vaginal discharge may occur at a young age due to vaginal atrophy and inflammation.

(7) Foreign matter has entered the reproductive organs. There are gauze, tampons, menstrual plugs, etc. in the vagina. Some women have contraceptive devices placed in their uterus because it is not suitable for some reason. All of these will stimulate the reproductive organs and increase the amount of leucorrhea.

What does abnormal leucorrhea indicate? When a woman's leucorrhea secretion changes in quantity, color, properties, odor, etc., and at the same time has symptoms such as low back pain, abdominal pain, and vulvar itching, it indicates that abnormal leucorrhea has occurred. It is likely that there is inflammation of the reproductive organs or urinary system. Abnormal leucorrhea is common in the following situations.

1. Non-inflammatory leucorrhea

(1) Leucorrhea is sticky and profuse, which is seen after taking estrogen drugs.

(2) Women of childbearing age have too little vaginal discharge, which makes it impossible to meet their physiological needs. Women often feel dryness and discomfort in the vulva. This is often caused by ovarian dysfunction and insufficient secretion of sex hormones, and is also a pathological condition.

(3) Mental stimulation increases the secretions of the vulva, vagina and cervix, which become colorless and transparent.

(4) Leucorrhea is milky white and watery, and may occur in patients with pelvic tumors, retroflexed uterus, and chronic systemic diseases (heart failure, diabetes, anemia, tuberculosis, etc.). It is caused by pelvic and uterine congestion and increased vaginal secretions.

2. Inflammatory leucorrhea

(1) Leucorrhea is milky white or light yellow, purulent, large in amount, and has a foul odor, often accompanied by abdominal pain. It is usually caused by chronic cervicitis or endocervicitis.

(2) If the vaginal discharge is yellow or yellow-green, thin and foamy, or like rice water, grayish white, and has a foul odor, it is mostly caused by Trichomonas vaginalis.

(3) The leucorrhea of patients with gonorrhea is yellow and pus-like.

(4) The vaginal discharge secreted after amoeba infection usually appears as: bloody serous or yellow viscous secretions, sometimes mixed with small rotten meat-like substances (looks like yellow sauce soup).

(5) Leucorrhea is yellowish-white in color, and most of the time it is thick, but sometimes it can be thin. It is typically milky white, like bean curd, or in the form of white flakes or lumps, and is mostly caused by fungal infection.

(6) If there is blood in the leucorrhea, it is common in cervical polyps, side effects caused by intrauterine contraceptive devices, submucosal uterine fibroids, severe chronic cervicitis, etc.

(7) When suffering from fallopian tube cancer, due to the tumor stimulating the fallopian tube epithelium to exude fluid and the necrosis of the diseased tissue, the leucorrhea will be intermittent, clear, yellow-red liquid, flowing out of the vagina in bursts, continuously.

(8) When women suffer from cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, uterine cancer and other diseases, their vaginal discharge is often characterized by the following symptoms: the amount of vaginal discharge is golden, rice-washing water-like, turbid and foul-smelling, sometimes mixed with blood and light pink in color, and the amount is large. If a woman finds that the color, odor, amount, and appearance of her leucorrhea have abnormal changes, she should go to the hospital to see a gynecologist for examination, diagnosis, and treatment in time, because observing the changes in leucorrhea can assist in the diagnosis of many related gynecological diseases, such as cervical erosion, vaginitis, cervical polyps, endometrial cancer, etc. 9. What medicine should be used for abnormal leucorrhea? Normal leucorrhea is composed of vaginal mucosal exudate, cervical secretions and part of the endometrial secretions. It has no odor and the amount of discharge varies from person to person. This is related to the body. Just do it a few more times.
