The benefits of third-generation IVF

The benefits of third-generation IVF

It has been more than 40 years since the emergence of IVF technology. IVF technology has also developed from the first generation to the third generation. In fact, the fourth generation of IVF technology has also come out, but it has not been used in clinical research. Now most people use the first, second and third generation of IVF technology. So for these three commonly used IVF technologies, what are their advantages and disadvantages?

Introduction to the third generation of test tube babies:

The first generation of test-tube babies is actually the in vitro fertilization technology, which is a special technology that takes the egg cells and sperm out of the body, allows them to combine in an artificial environment outside the body, and then transplants the early test tube into the woman's uterus to create a child in the uterus. Babies created using in vitro fertilization technology are called test-tube babies, and these children also grow in the mother's uterus.

The second generation of IVF technology, single sperm injection technology, is used to solve male sperm problems. The second-generation IVF technology is called intracytoplasmic sperm injection, which is a microfertilization technology developed on the basis of in vitro fertilization-test tube transfer (IVF-ET). It achieves the purpose of pregnancy by directly injecting sperm into the cytoplasm of the oocyte. It is mainly suitable for oligospermia, azoospermia or teratospermia, but it requires a small amount of sperm in the sperm duct or testicles.

The third generation of IVF technology is to ensure the health of the test tube embryo transplanted into the woman's uterus, so as to ensure the health of the newborn after birth, and not cause the baby to suffer from some congenital diseases or family hereditary diseases. Mainly uses PGD/PGS technology.

Advantages and disadvantages of the third generation of IVF:

Advantages:

1. It can help families who are unable to conceive to realize their wish of becoming pregnant. Whether it is male infertility or female infertility, there is a chance to get pregnant again.

2. IVF technology can help many older women realize their wish to get pregnant, providing a glimmer of hope that miracles can sometimes happen at an older age, and it can also solve the problem of older couples being unable to conceive!

3. The emergence of the third-generation IVF technology allows for the testing of early embryos before transplantation, and then the removal of unhealthy IVF embryos and the selection of high-quality IVF embryos for transplantation. This not only increases the success rate of embryo implantation and pregnancy, but also enables healthy pregnancies, prevents genetic diseases, and prevents the birth of unhealthy fetuses.

defect:

1. After officially entering the IVF treatment cycle, the first step is to use drugs to induce ovulation. Because the number of eggs discharged by women each month is limited, when the quality of individual eggs cannot be guaranteed, it is necessary to use drug stimulation to encourage women to discharge a certain number of eggs, and then culture them. Because the use of drugs to induce ovulation will have a certain impact on women's bodies.

2. The price is relatively expensive. The cost of a basic IVF treatment ranges from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands. Of course, the price is usually related to the treatment projects and the level of treatment technology. But for ordinary families, IVF treatment is still relatively expensive, and it does not include other projects that may be needed. Therefore, families with average savings are still relatively hard to afford!
