What is a multiparous woman?

What is a multiparous woman?

I often hear many hospitals or doctors talk about the issue of multiparas. In fact, everyone does not understand what a multipara is. This refers to a woman who has given birth to one or more children, and has had medical abortions, surgical abortions, etc. Because the intervals between them are relatively short, they are called multiparas. Don't think that as long as you have given birth to one or more children, you have experience and don't need to pay too much attention to it. Regular prenatal checkups and various examinations need to be done.

What does multipara mean? A multipara is a woman who has given birth to more than one child. Another meaning is a woman who has had an abortion, medical abortion or induced labor before 28 weeks. When she gets pregnant again and is about to give birth (after 28 weeks), she is a primipara. If she has given birth once after 28 weeks and is about to give birth again when she gets pregnant again, she is called a multipara.

What are the signs of labor for multiparous women? Although a multipara has given birth before, it is still necessary to pay attention to the signs before delivery to prevent the baby from being born prematurely. So what are the signs before a multiparous woman gives birth?

First, expectant mothers urinate significantly more often. As the expectant mother approaches her due date, her uterus becomes larger, compressing the bladder, and the amount of urine stored in the bladder decreases, so the expectant mother's urination frequency will increase. If an expectant mother finds herself experiencing such symptoms, she should be alert and prepare for delivery.

Second, the expectant mother's uterus begins to contract regularly. Before a pregnant woman gives birth, her uterus will go from irregular contractions to regular contractions. This is actually the natural preparation that pregnant women make before giving birth. Through uterine contractions, the baby can be delivered more smoothly.

Third, the expectant mother's vagina discharges a small amount of bloody mucus. This is seeing blood. This is also a natural phenomenon for expectant mothers before giving birth, but if the amount of blood is too large, you should go to the hospital for medical treatment in time to prevent accidents.

Fourth, the expectant mother’s amniotic fluid breaks. Before giving birth, the expectant mother's amniotic membrane will rupture and a large amount of amniotic fluid will flow out of the vagina. When this happens, the family should quickly send the pregnant woman to the hospital to prepare for delivery.

What should mothers pay attention to?

1. Postpartum women sweat a lot, especially when sleeping and just waking up. Sometimes the sweating may soak their underwear. It usually improves on its own within a few days. This is a normal physiological phenomenon and not a sign of physical weakness. The mother should change her underwear and bed sheets frequently, and the room should be ventilated. If fresh air is not allowed to enter the room, the mother will increase the chance of respiratory infection in the polluted air room.

2. Eat more vegetables to avoid constipation

Some people believe that you can’t eat cold food after giving birth, so new mothers don’t touch vegetables or fruits. This is most likely to cause intestinal constipation. Eating more vegetables, fruits and melons rich in dietary fiber is very beneficial for preventing and treating postpartum constipation. After giving birth, you should pay attention to the care of the perineum and rinse it with warm water after urination and defecation.

3. Ensure adequate rest time

The delivery process exhausts the new mother's physical strength. The most important thing on the first day is to rest to ensure physical recovery. Nowadays, many mothers and babies stay in the same room, with the baby staying with the mother. The new father has the task of changing the baby's diapers, which ensures that the new mother has sufficient rest time and facilitates postpartum recovery.
