Ear piercing redness, swelling, burning and itching

Ear piercing redness, swelling, burning and itching

Many people often experience repeated inflammation after getting their ears pierced. People choose to get their ears pierced to look good, but inflammation after piercing the ears can cause a lot of trouble for people. Not only do they fail to become more beautiful, but their ears also become severely swollen. Inflammation of the ear piercing can cause symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, and itching. These are all caused by not paying attention to care or using incorrect care methods.

What to do if ear piercing becomes inflamed repeatedly

Try sterling silver or gold earrings first.

It is recommended to use pure silver when changing the earrings for the first time after a newly pierced ear. If you are allergic, use pure gold. Because pure silver and pure gold ear sticks are anti-allergic, there are generally no problems, and they are just small ear sticks and are not expensive.

It should be noted that when removing the steel nail for the first time, you must be gentle and do not tear the earplug too hard to injure the ear hole. Also, before wearing the ear sticks, be sure to disinfect them with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, including the ears and the ear sticks. Among them, hydrogen peroxide is better than alcohol for ear piercing disinfection, as alcohol is more irritating. After disinfection, put a little erythromycin ointment on the ear stick and put it on.

Avoid changing earrings or ear studs frequently.

It is actually taboo to wear earrings when the ear holes have not fully healed. If you must do so, please pay attention to disinfection and do not change the earrings frequently. Generally, you should occasionally gently rotate the ear stick with your hands to prevent it from growing stuck to the ear. The ear stick can be replaced and disinfected once a week or so.

If wearing pure silver or pure gold ear sticks doesn't work and inflammation still occurs, you can try tea sticks.

Don't use tea sticks on newly pierced ears as they will easily grow together.

As for tea sticks, just choose the one with appropriate thickness from the purchased tea leaves. Disinfect it before use. After wearing it, gently turn it with your hands every three to five days.

Some people also experience redness, swelling and festering immediately after using tea sticks. This may be because they are not disinfected properly. Generally, there will be no problem if the disinfection work is done well. Tea sticks are natural, breathable, harmless and anti-inflammatory.

What to do if ear piercing becomes inflamed repeatedly

At the beginning, you need to disinfect every day, and after about five days, you can disinfect every few days.

I have tried hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, and iodine. In terms of pain, using hydrogen peroxide is less painful; in terms of effectiveness, iodine tincture has better disinfection effects. The editor has found that using these disinfection products every day will cause the skin around the ear holes to peel off, so it is recommended to disinfect them at intervals if there is no pus in the ear holes.

Note: The disinfection mentioned here does not require removing the ear stick, just use a cotton swab dipped in disinfectant to apply it around the ear hole.

Avoid touching your ears frequently with your hands.

There are a lot of bacteria on your hands, so you should control yourself and not touch your ears with your hands often.

Avoid pressing on the injured ear while sleeping.

If your ear piercing is inflamed or injured, you should be careful about your sleeping position and avoid putting pressure on it as it is very fragile.

Avoid wearing earrings that are too heavy.

If your ear piercings haven't fully healed, don't wear heavy earrings. The author once suffered a recurrence of abscesses in both ear piercings due to wearing iron earrings. The consequences are at your own risk.
