Is 2 days of menstruation normal?

Menstruation is a relatively important period for non-pregnant women, but a normal menstrual cycle is seven days. However, in reality, many people will encounter the situation where their menstruation ends after two days. When this happens, many people will wonder if there is something wrong with them, causing their menstruation to suddenly end early. So is it normal for menstruation to only last two days? What are the abnormal reasons that lead to this situation?

The normal menstrual volume is 30-50ml. If the menstrual volume is less than 20ml or the menstrual period is shorter than 2 days, it is considered to be oligomenorrhea.

Small menstrual volume (oligomenorrhea) is when the menstrual cycle is basically normal, but the menstrual volume is significantly reduced, or even stops with just a few drops; or when the menstrual period is shortened to less than two days and the menstrual volume is also small, it is called "oligomenorrhea". It is a menstrual disease. [1] Oligomenorrhea is often associated with late menstruation and is often accompanied by weight gain. If the disease occurs during adolescence and childbearing age, it may develop into amenorrhea, and if it occurs during menopause, it often leads to menopause.

Etiology and pathology

Oligomenorrhea refers to a period with less menstrual volume than normal, which is mostly caused by blood deficiency, qi stagnation, blood stasis, cold stagnation in the blood, phlegm obstruction and other reasons.

The causes and pathologies of oligomenorrhea can be both deficiency and excess. Deficiency cases are mostly due to physical weakness, serious illness, long-term illness, blood loss, or diet and fatigue that damage the spleen, or sexual fatigue that damages the kidneys, which leads to deficiency of the blood sea and reduced menstrual volume; excess cases are mostly due to blood stasis in the body, or phlegm and dampness stagnation, which block the meridians, poor blood circulation, and reduced menstrual blood volume.

If the menstrual cycle is basically normal but the menstrual flow is significantly reduced, or even stops with a few drops, or the menstrual period is shortened to less than two days and the menstrual flow is also small, it is called oligomenorrhea, also known as scanty menstruation. It is generally believed that menstrual volume less than 30 ml is considered oligomenorrhea. This disease is often a precursor to amenorrhea. Oligomenorrhea may be associated with cycle abnormalities, such as scanty menstrual flow or scanty menstrual flow at the end of the menstrual cycle.

If oligomenorrhea is caused by oral contraceptives or intramuscular contraceptive injections, the medication should be stopped and the disease can be treated according to the discussion and treatment of this disease. The diagnosis of oligomenorrhea generally refers to two or more consecutive occurrences. If the flow is always normal but suddenly becomes less, attention should be paid to whether it is a threatened miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy, or a small amount of vaginal bleeding due to ectopic pregnancy. Further examinations must be done to differentiate.

Common causes

1. Excessive dieting to lose weight

For various reasons, many women have very high demands on their body shape. Women's menstruation is closely related to their weight and body fat content. In particular, women who have menstrual problems should stop losing weight, strengthen their nutrition, and restore their health.

2. Excessive work and rest can lead to endocrine disorders

With a fast-paced life and high-intensity work, many women would probably go crazy if they encounter those uncomfortable days every month. If they do not pay attention to maintaining a good work and rest routine and relaxing at this time, it is likely to cause scanty menstruation.

3. Often sulking and depressed

Female friends should never hold back when they feel wronged. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, holding back can easily cause liver depression and qi stagnation, thereby reducing menstrual flow. In addition, excessive mental stimulation, tension and psychological trauma can also cause oligomenorrhea.

4. Artificial abortion

After an artificial abortion, the ovaries can generally resume ovulation function within 22 days, and menstruation will occur in about 1 month. However, a small number of women experience prolonged menstruation, irregular cycles, and amenorrhea after artificial abortion, which usually return to normal after 2-3 months.

5. Ovarian dysfunction

The function of the ovaries directly affects women's menstruation. In the late menstrual period, the menstrual volume is small. Most modern medicine believes that this is related to poor follicular development or anovulation. Therefore, promoting ovulation and strengthening ovarian function are the main links in treating oligomenorrhea.

6. Chest lesions

Many women experience premenstrual breast pain but little menstrual flow. Do not take this lightly, because symptoms such as breast pain may be caused by liver depression and qi stagnation. You need to soothe the liver and regulate qi, and unblock the blood vessels to achieve the overall menstruation regulation effect.

harm

1. Low menstrual volume causes a lot of harm to women's health, mainly endometrial displacement, cervicitis, menstrual arthritis, menstrual rash, menstrual toothache, menstrual asthma, etc.

2. It can also cause acne in women and affect the beauty of their faces. Moreover, these spots cannot be solved by cosmetics alone. If not diagnosed and treated early, it will not only affect beauty but also physical health.

3. Small menstrual volume can cause headaches in women, and in severe cases it can even cause infertility in women, so female friends must pay attention to it and not be careless.

4. If the scanty menstrual flow is caused by gynecological diseases, it will also affect women’s fertility.
