How to check cervical adhesions?

How to check cervical adhesions?

Why many women are unable to conceive successfully? The first thing to consider is whether the man has any disease or whether the sperm survival rate is too low. The second thing to consider is whether there is a problem with the woman's body, such as fallopian tube obstruction or cervical adhesion. Both of these diseases can prevent sperm from combining with the egg normally, making pregnancy impossible. So, how to check cervical adhesion?

1. Ultrasound examination

During ultrasound examination, if the examination results show uneven echo of the edge of the endometrium, the possibility of cervical adhesion is very high.

2. Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy can provide a comprehensive understanding of the specific conditions of the uterine cavity, including whether there are adhesions of the cervix, and determine the location, size, area, and degree of adhesion. Currently, hysteroscopy is the gold standard method for diagnosing uterine adhesions. However, this examination is more complicated and the cost is relatively high.

3. Hysterosalpingography

Hysterosalpingography is a primary screening method for intrauterine adhesions. It can determine whether there is cervical adhesion, but it cannot specifically check the degree of cervical adhesion.

4. Uterine probe examination

This test involves inserting a hysteroprobe about 1 to 3 inches into the cervix. If there is resistance, it can be considered cervical adhesion. In severe cases of severe adhesion, the probe has a very small range of motion or cannot be inserted at all.

Symptoms of cervical adhesions

1. Cause abdominal pain

Cervical adhesions prevent menstrual blood from being discharged normally, and it often stays in the uterine cavity or in the fallopian tube or abdominal cavity, causing abdominal pain.

2. Abnormal menstruation

Cervical adhesions can cause menstrual abnormalities, such as oligomenorrhea, irregular menstrual cycles, and even amenorrhea. This is because when the cervix is adhered, menstrual blood cannot flow out normally, and irregular menstruation can also cause the formation of pigmentation and acne.

3. Impact on fertility

Cervical adhesions often lead to pregnancy failure in women, including symptoms such as early and mid-term miscarriage, premature birth, ectopic pregnancy, and intrauterine fetal death. Female infertility is the most obvious symptom of cervical adhesion.
