When we observe leucorrhea under a microscope, we will find that normal leucorrhea should be a normal mixture, with normal color and proportion. However, because it contains dry bacteria, bacteria and mold, and is affected by lesions and pathological factors, the color of leucorrhea will change. Yellowing does not guarantee that it is not related to getting angry, and the cause needs to be found out before treatment.
Guided by the appearance of the discharge, it is easier to get a correct diagnosis through microscopic observation. Mix a small amount of vaginal discharge with normal saline on a slide to disperse the vaginal epithelial cells, and observe lactobacilli, white blood cells, trichomonas and clue cells under a high-power microscope (400x); mix a large amount of leucorrhea with 10% KOH solution on another slide to disperse the vaginal epithelial cells. Observe Candida under 100x microscope.
Normal leucorrhea or candidal leucorrhea contains large rods, and the presence of such rods indicates the presence of lactobacilli. It is often not found in trichomoniasis leucorrhea, but completely disappears in bacterial vaginosis leucorrhea. (ii) White blood cells In the hanging drop smear of normal leucorrhea, only one or two white blood cells can be seen in the high-power field of view. If a large number of white blood cells are present, trichomoniasis or cervicitis should be considered. There are few white blood cells in the hanging drop smear of leucorrhea with candidiasis and bacterial vaginosis.
It is a protozoan with flagella, slightly larger than white blood cells. If it is active, it is easy to identify, but when it is surrounded by white blood cells, its activity is restricted. About 15%-20% of patients with trichomoniasis have no visible Trichomonas activity in their leucorrhea under a microscope. In this case, the patient should be observed under a high-power microscope and differentiated from the cells based on the activity of their flagella. (IV) Mycelium Mycelium can be found under the microscope (100×) in the specimen of leucorrhea of candidal vaginitis mixed with 10% KOH solution, but no mycelium is present when Candida albicans exists alone in the vagina. On the contrary, bud reproduction can be seen regardless of whether there is infection or not, but methylene blue or Gram or Papanicolaou staining is required. |
