If infected with high-risk HPV, its DNA is integrated into the host cell chromosomes and cannot produce complete virions. HPV E6 and E7 conversion genes are expressed, leading to the occurrence of intraepithelial neoplasia and invasive cancer. The symptoms of genital warts are often not obvious in cases of integrated infection.

The incubation period of genital warts is 3 weeks to 8 months, with an average of 3 months. It is more common in young women aged 20-29. The clinical symptoms are often not obvious, and most patients seek medical treatment for vulvar growths. Some patients experience vulvar itching, burning pain, or bleeding after sexual intercourse. The lesions are common in areas that are easily injured during sexual intercourse, such as near the navicular fossa, labia majora and minora, around the anus, vaginal vestibule, and urethral opening.
