What to check for during the 28th week of pregnancy

We all know that when a pregnant woman reaches the 28th week of pregnancy, it is already in the late stage of pregnancy. At this time, many pregnant women have already taken maternity leave and are preparing for delivery at home. At this time, the pregnant woman's belly is already relatively large and the baby is basically formed. However, some necessary prenatal examinations are still required, because at this time you can also check whether the baby's limbs are intact. So what do you need to check at 28 weeks of pregnancy?

This week, the baby almost fills the entire uterus. As the space becomes smaller and smaller, the fetal movement is also weakening. But if you put your hand on your abdomen, you can feel the fetus moving. When the baby kicks or turns, you can even see the shape of his feet and arms.

The fetus's crown-to-rump length (sitting height) is now about 26 cm, body length is about 37 cm, and weight is about 1,200 grams. The shape and function of the baby's internal organs are close to those of adults. Although the fetus in the uterus obtains oxygen through the placenta and the lungs are not actually used, the baby is practicing breathing exercises similar to inhaling and exhaling in preparation for birth!

This week you will discover: your baby can open his eyes! His eyelashes have fully grown in and he's still accumulating fat in preparation for life outside his mother's womb after birth. From now on, you should record every regular fetal movement. At this time, the fetus may use its little hands and feet to kick and hit in your belly, and sometimes turn itself over, pushing your belly up here and there. Some fetuses are relatively quiet. The fetus's personality has already begun to emerge at this time.

You may have the following changes at this time:

The growing baby makes the pregnant mother's belly feel noticeably heavy, and the uterine height is about 21 to 24 cm. 70% of pregnant mothers will find that they have stretch marks at this time. Occasionally you may feel your stomach getting hard and tight. This is false labor and you don't need to be nervous. Your movements become clumsy and slow, completely resembling the body of a pregnant woman. Since the body's metabolism consumes more oxygen, it is easy to become out of breath after activity. The abdomen pushes forward more strongly, so the body's center of gravity moves below the abdomen. As long as the body loses balance slightly, you will feel back pain or leg pain. Sometimes this pain radiates to the lower extremities, causing pain in one or both legs. The burden on the heart is gradually increasing, blood pressure begins to rise, and troubles such as varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and constipation come one after another to bother pregnant mothers.

3 things you need to do

1. Have a prenatal checkup every two weeks

After 28 weeks, expectant mothers should have a check-up every two weeks, and after 36 weeks, every week. In the later stages of pregnancy, regular prenatal check-ups are very necessary. If there are no special examinations, the hospital will lovingly remind expectant mothers to have breakfast before coming to the hospital for examination. Of course, they must be on an empty stomach when blood is drawn.

2. Pay attention to weight control

In the later stages of pregnancy, expectant mothers must control their mouths and eat in moderation, especially in the later stages when the fetus's internal organs, bones and eight major systems have already developed. If you are overweight, it will be detrimental to both yourself and the fetus, especially affecting normal delivery.

3. Do breast massage

After pregnancy, breast alveoli and milk ducts proliferate rapidly, and connective tissue becomes congested. At 4 months, the nipples secrete a small amount of yellow mucus, and the sebaceous glands of the areola also increase their secretion. After 28 weeks, expectant mothers can do appropriate breast massage, which is the first step to successfully breastfeed the baby after delivery.
