Whether you want to take contraceptive measures or get pregnant, as a woman, you should know what is the safe menstruation period and what is the dangerous period of pregnancy, so as to control the number of days to pregnancy as soon as possible with your lover. So how do you calculate the safe period for irregular menstruation? How long after the menstrual period is the safe menstrual period? Let’s take a look together.

How to calculate the safe period for irregular menstruation?

Method 1: Calculate the safe menstrual period according to the physiological cycle

Women's menstrual cycles vary in length, but the time interval between ovulation and the start of the next menstrual period is relatively fixed, usually about 14 days. Based on the relationship between ovulation and menstruation, the ovulation period can be calculated according to the physiological cycle.

The calculation method is to count from the first day of the next menarche, and the last 14 days or minus 14 days is the ovulation period. The ovulation period plus the first 5 days and the last 4 days are called the ovulation period. This is the basic theoretical basis of the rhythm method of contraception.

The calculation method of female ovulation date: about 14 days before the first menstruation of ordinary women. From the first day of the next menarche, the last 14 days or minus 14 days is the ovulation period, that is, the middle of two menstruations. The ovulation period as well as the first 5 days and the last 4 days are together called the ovulation period.

Method 2: Use basic body temperature measurement method to determine the safe menstrual period

Ovulation temperature refers to the body temperature measured when the body wakes up after a long sleep and before any activity is carried out.

The ovulation body temperature of normal women of childbearing age changes regularly, just like their menstrual cycle. This type of temperature change is associated with ovulation. Under normal circumstances, a woman's basal body temperature is lower before ovulation and rises after ovulation.

It is recommended that ladies record the basic body temperature accurately measured daily on a temperature record sheet and connect it into a curve graph. It can be seen that the body temperature is lower in the first half of the menstrual period and rises in the second half of the menstrual period. The fertile period is within 3 days of the rise in basic body temperature, and the "safe menstrual period after ovulation" is from the 4th day until the next menarche.

What is the safe period

Normal women of childbearing age have a menstrual period once a month. From the beginning of menarche to the first day of menarche of the next menarche, it is called a physiological cycle. From the perspective of contraception, each menstrual cycle of a woman can be divided into menstrual period, ovulation period and safe menstrual period.

Generally speaking, the ovaries of women of normal childbearing age only release one egg cell per month. The egg cell can survive for 1 to 2 days after being released, and the sperm can survive in the female reproductive system for 2-3 days. The fertilization period is within 24 hours after ovulation. After 2-3 days, the sperm will lose the ability to fuse with the egg cell. Therefore, if you have sexual intercourse 2-3 days before ovulation and 1-2 days after ovulation, you may become pregnant. This stage is called the fertile period or the dangerous period of pregnancy. Women's ovulation period is generally about 14 days before the next menstrual period. To be on the safe side, we call the 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, a total of 10 days within the ovulation period, the ovulation period. The other time outside the menstrual period is called the safe menstrual period.
