What to do if you feel itchy after abortion

What to do if you feel itchy after abortion

As society becomes more open, sexual behavior becomes more common. Many young people do not know how to take proper contraceptive measures, which leads to unwanted pregnancies, and they have no choice but to have abortions. Some people find that they feel unbearable itching down there after having an abortion. In fact, this is most likely caused by vaginal inflammation. This is mainly due to bacterial infection caused by improper care after abortion or improper surgery. In this case, medical treatment should be sought in time. So what should we do when we encounter this situation?

Causes of vaginitis

Vaginitis is a common gynecological disease, the main symptoms of which are vulvar itching and increased vaginal discharge. If vaginitis is not treated in time, it will lead to infertility, cancer and other hazards. So, what is the cause of vaginitis? Damage to the vaginal environment, invasion of pathogens, and low estrogen levels in young girls and postmenopausal women are all causes of vaginitis.

1. Damage to the vaginal environment

There are various microbial communities in the vagina of healthy women, which restrict and coordinate with each other to maintain a dynamic balance of vaginal microecology. If the estrogen level in the body decreases or the vaginal pH increases, frequent sexual intercourse and vaginal douching can increase the vaginal pH, which is not conducive to the growth of lactobacillus. Long-term use of antibiotics to inhibit the growth of Lactobacillus, or low immunity of the body, can make other conditional pathogens become dominant and cause inflammation.

2. Pathogen invasion

When the body's own environment or the external environment changes, the natural defense function of the vagina will be destroyed, making it easier for pathogens to invade the vagina and lead to the occurrence of vaginitis. Vaginitis is more likely to occur if there is a history of vaginal injury, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, unclean sexual intercourse, or uterine surgery.

What to do with vaginal inflammation

1. Avoid excessive scratching, rubbing, hot water washing and other methods to relieve itching. Do not use strong alkaline soap for bathing, and do not use bathing agents to repeatedly wash the vulva or flush the vagina, which will cause changes in vaginal pH and lead to imbalance of normal vaginal flora, thereby destroying the vaginal acidic antibacterial barrier. Do not abuse highly irritating hormone topical drugs;

2. Underwear should be soft, loose and wide, preferably made of cotton. Avoid wearing down, nylon and woolen clothes close to the body. Avoid washing underwear and socks together. Pay attention to keeping the vulva clean and dry, especially during menstruation. Do not wear synthetic underwear.

3. Avoid the excessive use of broad-spectrum antibiotics that may cause imbalance in the normal vaginal flora, and give up the abuse of antibiotics: Do you take antibiotics for cough, fever, or headache? Little do people know that antibiotics may inhibit some beneficial bacteria, giving mold the opportunity to multiply in large numbers. Therefore, antibiotics should be used with caution;

4. Fungi can multiply in large numbers on the skin surface, gastrointestinal tract, nails, etc. If your family members or yourself suffer from tinea pedis, onychomycosis, etc., it is easy to cause fungal cross infection;

5. Be careful with washing machines. There is mold hidden in almost every washing tub, and the more you use the washing machine, the more mold there is.

6. Pay attention to care during pregnancy. During pregnancy, sex hormone levels, glycogen and acidity in the vagina will increase, making it easy to be invaded by fungi. For pregnant women, oral medications should not be used, but local prevention and auxiliary treatment plans should be selected. If the above preventive measures are taken in daily life, the dark cloud of gynecological inflammation will eventually be broken.
