The importance of the cervix determines that any abnormality in the cervical opening may cause great impact. The most common reason for a raised lump at the opening of the cervix is cervical cyst. It is difficult to make a judgment based on a single symptom. We need to have a full understanding of this disease and make a comprehensive judgment based on our own situation so that we can figure out whether we have a cervical cyst. Cervical cyst, also known as "cervical gland retention cyst", also known as "Nabot cyst", "Nabot gland cyst", or simply "Nabot cyst", is a type of cervicitis. It usually occurs during the healing process of cervicitis, when the secretions in the cervical glands are blocked by excessive proliferation of new squamous epithelium and the cervical gland ducts are formed into cystic tumors. They are generally small and scattered, protruding from the surface of the cervix. Yellowish-white fluid accumulates in the glands to form cysts of varying sizes. There may be no clinical symptoms, but inflammation may be accompanied by increased vaginal discharge, with or without an odor. Traditional Chinese medicine calls the symptomatic condition "leucorrhea." Most patients with cervical cysts have no clinical symptoms and are discovered accidentally during physical examination and do not require special treatment. If the glandular cyst is large and accompanied by increased vaginal discharge and other discomforts, timely treatment is required.
Cervical glandular cysts appear as multiple small yellow-white vesicles that protrude from the surface of the cervix and contain colorless jelly-like substances. If accompanied by infection, the vesicles are mostly white or yellow in appearance. The mucus it contains is often clear but may be turbid and purulent due to concurrent infection. The cysts are usually small and scattered and may protrude from the surface of the cervix. Some cervical cysts can grow very large, protruding from the surface of the cervix and even reaching the vaginal opening. The root is connected to the cervix by a pedicle and is often accompanied by cervical hypertrophy. During the examination, you can see multiple yellow-white vesicles of varying sizes protruding from the surface of the cervix. They contain mucus, some as big as rice grains and some as big as corn kernels. Cervical cyst is a kind of chronic lesion of cervicitis. Most of them have no obvious symptoms. The main manifestation of cervicitis is increased vaginal discharge. Due to different pathogens, the color, amount, and properties of vaginal discharge are also different. Leucorrhea may be sticky and purulent, and in some cases may contain streaks of blood or a small amount of blood. In very rare cases, there may also be contact bleeding. If accompanied by pelvic inflammatory disease, lower abdominal or lumbar pain, or dysmenorrhea may occur.
If there are no symptoms, you can observe and do regular cervical scraping (TCT); or puncture the cervix with a needle and apply iodine; if accompanied by inflammation, give anti-infection treatment; physical therapy such as microwave, laser, freezing, electric ironing, etc. can also be used. If there are no other associated conditions (such as cervical lesions, etc.), colposcopy or LEEP treatments are generally not recommended. |
